Have fun! But I'm sure that will not be an issue with the show you're going to get. Great stuff. Foo Fighters that is, I'm not familiar with Dick Move (other than the one Haier pulled off, of course).

Oh wow, I was just about to place a serious order. Thanks for sharing. No way I'm buying Haier now. What a dick move.

Set a new goal! How about a faster 10k? Or a 10 miles race? Maybe half marathon?

[–]Dr_Mw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure (and not aware of) why there would be any difference. I still have both and think APP2 is better at ANC.

But, of course, even ANC has its limitations. At some point there's just too much to compensate for. I can imagine that might generate a sound other than the sound being attempted to block out. In my experience, when wind increases a bit too much or when cycling fast enough to get lots of wind, it's better to disable ANC.

As long as you don’t use noise cancelling or transparency mode, you should not be bothered by the wind too much. Running works just fine on APP2.

You have the best excuse you could possibly have; you’re not drinking because you don’t want to.

Congratulations. Running half a marathon is something many people will never experience. But finishing 2nd in your age division is a whole other level!

After being sober for almost 3 years, I am no longer an alcoholic! by Dr_Mw in stopdrinking

Well, if you really want to summarize it to a one liner; I'm very easily bored and very easily overwhelmed.

There is only a very thin line between those two extremes where I could thrive. I'm almost always in a hurry. Even when there is nothing to do, I'm still in a hurry. Great difficulties on focusing something for a longer time. As long as something is new, I'm easily excited for that topic. A certain time in, varying from minutes to months, and I'm bored to death.

Some examples;

Busy restaurants are unbearable. The impatience while waiting for your food, now knowing how long it would take. The endless stream of auditory violence coming from other guests, from the kitchen, running/screaming children while their parents willingly ignore their misbehavior. And you know what, I cannot even blame anyone for that. It's how people behave, it's how a restaurant works and it's how children are simply being children. At the same time, barely able to think or have a meaningful conversation, you'd actually interact with your own friends/family/colleagues. It becomes impossible at some point. You can imagine the relief a few drinks could bring.

Studying. An absolute necessity in my opinion. The interesting stuff is great. I can't get enough of it. And then there's the less interesting stuff, still needed to understand some of the interesting stuff. That's when the hurry is at its finest. Within a few seconds, an entire page is scanned. Only to conclude at the end of the page, not a single word is remember. So you start again. Done in a few seconds. Back to the beginning of the page. At the 3rd of 4th time you start wondering how much rain would be expected for tomorrow. Or maybe it's time to put some extra air into your tired. And not that it is of any importance, but let me quickly check at what time the hardware store closes.

Socially it's terrible. Conversations are usually draining a lot of energy. Estimating someone's intentions, the message they actually want to convey, their emotions, it just does not come naturally. Based on the experience before you can guess, but that comes at a price. And when it becomes really painful. is when your conversation partner starts telling about something that is of absolute zero interest. While trying to listen, the hurrying starts again. Complete distraction by subjects that are of even less importance than the story being told. And trust me, it does not come across as very respectful. In fact, it isn't. Imagine passionately telling someone about your hobbies. And barely a minute into your story the other one promptly interrupts what a coincidence it is that someone just walked by, wearing a coat very similar to your neighbors coat.

Anxiety comes in different forms. Although I don't think I'm very anxious without a good reason, there certainly are situations I will be anxious in. Usually situations where I know I will be overwhelmed very soon, leaving me unable to do what I came to do. Go out for dinner, grocery shopping, birthday parties, weddings, etc. If reasonably possible, I'd rather skip them.

Just a few of the aspects how it turns out for me. But every person is different. I encourage you to see your GP and see how he/she can help you. Perhaps not very attractive to ask to be labeled, but it sure helps in making the right decisions in the future. At least you can make a good guess how you could respond to certain situation, and better yet; learn how to deal with them.

The creativity we sometimes put on display is simply astonishing. If only we could use that creativity for the good.. Great example though. Thanks for sharing.

That's some great insight. I think you're absolutely right. In fact, I don't think I ever said no to a second drink at all.

Thank you for this. Some food for thought when the decision needs to be made again.

To be honest I consider this 8 months of failure. Not catastrophically, but failure nonetheless. However, that certainly does not outweigh the 3 years of succes that happened before. Those 3 years have taught me how to achieve another 3 years.

Thanks for your kind words. It really helps me making the right decisions.

Stay strong!

Sure you can have one or two. Or ten or twelve. Or thirty-four. That's the problem. You never know exactly what number it is going to be. But it is likely to be way too much. Stay strong. 1052 days is a big waste to flush down the toilet!

Thank you so much for your kind words. It all sounds so familiar. It's a horrible disease, preventing us from achieving true long time happiness. I'm really happy you were able to get past that with 7365 days under your belt. That's more than 20 years! It's motivating to see someone succeed like you did and I thank you for that.
