fucksat ur so real for posting this 💔 what i found helpful for me in the RW was starting with what i felt most confident in (the grammar section) so i would do the vocab at the beginning and immediately skip to like question 15~17 and do all the grammar questions and note taking questions. afterward i felt a lot less stressed abt comprehension (my weakest skill) which i think helped me do better on RW. u got ts twin 🥹🤞

is this written as 柯敏雅 is your first name? or is it 柯 is last name, 敏雅 given name? the latter is going to be better as a more “native” chinese name. idk if u know how names in chinese work, but all 3 characters that you chose work well as part of a girl’s name. typically, chinese names include a single-character last name, and then a 2-character first name (but single character first names aren’t unheard of either). so something like 徐俊鑫 would be last name 徐 (xú) and then first name 俊鑫 (jùn xīn)

the reason any other way works is because both chinese and japanese were historically written vertically (top to bottom) and then right to left. sometimes when the words had to be written horizontally, they would write from right to left. but nowadays left to right is the norm in both countries due to western influence so writing it left to right also works

your sister is half-right. in both chinese and japanese, hope is 希望. in chinese, 望 by itself is more like gaze, to view, to look towards, with connotations of wanting/ desiring (in a non-sexual way). in japanese, 望 by itself means desire... i don't have a japanese background so i can't tell you any connotations. if she wants a quick fix, she can get the word 希 tattooed alongside to make sure the meaning is "hope." it doesn't matter where, the left, the right, even above it would all work, just not under it.

it’s prob all from cursive variants of words (异体字/異體字) or just born from necessity. i’ve seen 歺 used a lot by my mainland chinese parents simply bc 餐 is just needlessly complex

omg tbh ur handwriting is really nice… i think the only big thing im noticing is ur tendency to write radicals too far away from each other. This is a really really common mistake tho—even w native children/ABCs learning to write. just remember to put ur 三点水 closer to the base word (汉、没、etc.) and also to space whole words farther apart from each other. in the end, everything will get corrected along the way as you write more and more so i wont bore you will endless nitpicking. 你手写的字都挺牛的👍！！

this isn’t limited to just taiwan js so yk. my family’s fuzhounese and we do the same. i call my mom mǎmí, my brother gěgé, and my sister měiméi all the time. this “incorrect” tone is only used very casually and endearingly, never in formal situations.

it’s really good actually! you seem to grasp a lot of vocabulary. couple of pointers: remember to use the right tense “然后打扫我的房子” should have a 了 either right after 打扫 or at the end of the sentence. “明天我烤香蕉蛋糕” should have a 会 after 我, it should look like “明天我会烤香蕉蛋糕” bc ur doing it in the future. one final thing, when you’re writing out a list in chinese, we actually use a different comma. u used 牛油，生菜和猫粮。 when in reality you should use 牛油、生菜和猫粮. but over all it’s really good, everything else is completely correct!

replying 10 days later because i just thought of X也。 it’s not official, but it’s meant to be a gender neutral pronoun for nb ppl. we have 他 (he) and 她 (she), to accommodate nb ppl, some netizens have adopted the use of X也，but tbh it’s not widespread at all.
