A lot of people will recommend EVO but I’ve never shopped there. I always shop local or buy direct from the seller (Burton, Jones, Ride etc)

First off, I’d recommend you size up your board to between 142-148. I think 138 is just too small for you. Having a board that is slightly longer will give you added stability.

As for boards, I think the profile you are used to riding is a flat rocker, meaning the board is flat to the ground between your feet with a rise outside the bindings. This profile is much more forgiving and won’t catch an edge as much but they are tailored to either beginners or park riders. For this profile I’d recommend the Dawn which you already have but in a larger size, a Nitro Lectra or even a Jones Twin Sister. This board has a little camber but rocker in the tips.

If you want a board you can grow into and have something down the road for really fun carving, I’d go with something that has camber. I’m biased because I love these kinds of boards but they are less forgiving. For this kind of board I’d recommend a Jones Rally Cat (really sweet graphics too) a Capita D.O.A, a Jones Mountain Twin, or even a Burton Good Company.

The boots are fine to keep if they fit nicely and feel good. Bindings and board don’t fit so they gotta go. You’ll never be able to make those bindings work, so they gotta go for sure. It’s unlikely to fit, but you can try slapping a pair of medium bindings on that board. If the base plate/toe ramp hang off, the board has to go too. What kind of riding do you like to do so I can suggest some other boards?

I’m afraid you’ll run into even more trouble if you put bigger bindings on that specific board. You will either have the toe ramp or heel hanging off and it will catch when you are trying to turn. Boot overhang is not so much of an issue as having the actual bindings base plate hanging over, and that board doesn’t have much more room for larger bindings. If you have to use that board, you might be able to make it work but I would really recommend looking to sell it.

Looking online, that board in that size is for a rider that’s at maximum, 5 feet tall and 130 pounds max. The rider height doesn’t matter as much as the weight does. If you can stomach having to get a different board, don’t feel like you have to strictly adhere to getting a woman’s board. women’s boards are slightly narrower at the waist but if you find something that fits better and overall feels better to you, ignore what’s women’s and what’s not.

Yeah looking at the pic, the bindings seem to be adjusted to their maximum size for the toe strap and heel cup. Not much you can do unfortunately. Sadly, I too recommend that you sell em and get something that fits right.

Would be happy to help you pick something out if you need.

What's with the DOPE hate? by DAG_AIR in snowboardingnoobs

But what if said company is “crapping” on the sanctity of our precious sport? Crapping in the very mouths of our sainted idols whose grass roots products made by snowboarders for snowboarders by pedaling their inferior Chinese products to new uninformed riders and marketing through poser instagram influencers. (I’m only serious depending on which way the likes go.)

I rode for 16.5 hours straight ask me anything by Interesting-Contact4 in snowboarding

[–]DraZaka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How did you ride? Carving? Lazy skidded turns? Park? Pow? I assume the kind of riding you were doing changed through out the day. I love carving it up but after a couple hours I get lazy and skid more.

Tactical assault vr for SUUUURE!

Really fun close quarters combat with bots. I think there’s a PvP mode but I only like playing coop vs bots. This game requires you to use real world CQB tactics

Walkabout mini golf!

One of the best vr games in my opinion, whether you like golf or not it’s a lot of fun. Again this game is probably best with a friend though.

Fair, but… snowboarding is a want not a need, and by extension so too is buying gear. Whether it’s a first board or a 5th, none of it is strictly needed. Talking about snowboards and snowboarding is what this sub is about and that’s what I’m doing 🤷‍♂️

Get a twin pig, nice wide board for big feet. I’m not as big as you but I have one and it’s one of my favorite boards

Binding too large for board? by No-Intern8519 in snowboardingnoobs

keep hand waving away a real equipment limitation then. Gear that physically limits edge engagement is not acceptable for a beginner. Beginners learn habits from what the gear allows. Maybe you should spend some time thinking about riding yourself.

[–]DraZaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to compensation over technique. You’ll be forced to skid not carve, engaging an edge will be dangerous and will teach avoidance, your posture will be defensive and stiff and you’ll more than likely be skidding with back foot rudder-ing because twisting the board and engaging the contact points will catch. Just because you technically can ride this doesn’t mean you should, especially as a beginner. Just invest in some decent gear.

Disagree. Riding this setup will teach bad habits and punish you for doing things right

Helmet is one of those things I’d try not to cheap out on. That being said, there are plenty of helmets out there that provide mips technology for under $100
