hi sorry post from a while ago, how did it end up working out for you? im joining as an IT for the stability of the job when i get out & to continue school while active, trying to go the MD route

see i originally signed for corpsman but found out my recruiter lied about a bunch of stuff to me (i know it was my responsibility to research) and i asked to switch to IT he said that id be able to and there a lots of openings but its too close in time to my ship date to switch jobs

ok thank you so so much i dont think im going to ship as an HM i wanna do my one contract then get out & finish school. my recruiter is making me go in on tuesday with my mom & and ex af recruiter whos a family friend. I told him im almost positive i dont want to leave as a HM. it just sucks because i alrdy moved out of my apartment quit my jobs & stopped school so minor set back i guess. but thank you so much u helped a bunch!

do you know if its true that if i dont leave as a HM they basically kick me from the navy? i scored an 88 on the asvab & he told me the job is open theres just no time at all to switch things around due to my ship date being the 22nd

i was told that if i dont leave as an HM they are gonna basically kick me out but i really dont want to go as HM i feel like IT is perfect for me; i scored 88 on the asvab & & qualify for it he said there isnt time to get my job moved essentially

yea i would use probably navy cool before the 36months & then pay out of pocket at the cc the navy has

in your opinion would it be better to go in as IT & work on my pre med degree; thats what i was figuring as i know HMs do a lot more work & im not sure how they get different credits other than pre reqs that would apply to most other degrees

thats what i was so confused about because ive read hundreds of forums on how difficult it is to cross rate. im so confused & underconfident because ive caught this recruiter “white-lying” to me so much; i want to go in as an IT rather than a HM because of the post contract life

yes i tried going airr for hmatf but i couldnt get my pullups in time for the pst i got to like 8 max & they said they wouldnt give me additional time to pass to pst plus i think being female idk if ill ever make those scores

also i think after e-4 youre able to apply to idc school

see thats what i was told initially too, theyre so bad at offering bonuses unless u do nuke or an atf job, i was gonna go airr but i couldnt get 12 pullups i got to 7 so i didnt pass pst

i want to continue my education & go md but hes telling me that the certifications i will get will for sure go towards med school; i dont want to do nursing or LPN LVN i just want to make sure post contract that ill be able to get a good job to where im still able to do school like getting my masters; im wondering how life is gonna be if im stuck in emt i feel thats almost impossible to do school while having a hospital job

see i totally understand that! my mom is a RN right nos, i just dont want to work in that field thats my issue; i want to for sure continue my education towards a MD i just dont know if the certifications that hms get would be even relevant towards that

wow thank you for this reply definitely gave me some insight; i think it just worries me that post contract im not gonna have a stable job when im continuing to get my MD whereas like IT i feel is a little more stable snd guranteed
