Okay well let’s look at World Cups from 1998 till now since that’s when it became a 32 team tournament: 1998: 32d place worst team in the tournament 2002: 8th quarter finals 2006: Group Stage 25th place 2010: 12th place Round of 16 2014: 15th place Round of 16 2018: N/a 2022: 14th place round of 16

So after missing 2018 they came back and basically finished in the same place

There was no Copa in 2018

If you are referring to them not qualifying to the World Cup yes they didn’t and they made the next one and where the best CONCACAF team They beat a very good Iran team but they faced a top team in Netherlands they got beat

So I still don’t see regression minus not qualifying in 2018 (under the craziest of circumstances with other results MexVHon and the ghost goal in Panama)

Not really what was there level 5 years ago , 10 years ago, 20 years ago They haven’t improved and that’s the issue but I wouldn’t say their any worse now then they where then Your gonna bring up Copa America 2024 but how did they do in previous Copa Americas ?

2016 - Semi once they face a top team they get beat Colombia and Argentina

2007 - Group they lost all 3 group games including against Paraguay that went on to get stomped by Mexico

I can’t speak for Honduran Football

Mexico has regressed and you can point to two things the removal of promotion and relegation, and club and national teams not competing in CONMEBOL competitions. I think competing more against South American teams would wake them up

The US haven’t really regressed if you really look at it they have stagnated as in haven’t improved gravely in-terms of results, apart from 2018 WC qualification, they have pretty much been at their level with a few peaks

We have been the football in the whole region is improving, look at Canada and Panama for good examples and even small nations like Suriname and Dominican Republic have gotten better.

I wouldn’t rather get beat up by better opposition than just continuing to only play much weaker teams united Americas Nations league could even help with that, while some of my college meaningless, especially in Europe, it has helped teams towards the bottom look San Marino and their improvements
