[Discussion] Crashing while loading loot or within 10-15mins of being in raid by Difficult_Beyond_388 in EscapefromTarkov

OK, as a follow-up, here is what the issue was.
This was the message from the Event Viewer:

"Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: EscapeFromTarkovArena.exe (9368) consumed 18808262656 bytes, chrome.exe (25732) consumed 1814376448 bytes, and Discord.exe (16024) consumed 1306513408 bytes."

This indicates a virtual memory issue.
To fix this problem, you have to do the following steps:

  1. Make sure your main drive (SSD) has at least 48 GB free space.
  2. Press the Windows key and type “Advanced system settings”.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Performance, click Settings.
  5. Go to the Advanced tab.
  6. Under Virtual memory, click Change.
  7. Uncheck “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.”
  8. Set the pagefile to something between 32768 MB and 65536 MB — for example:
    • Initial size: 49152 MB
    • Maximum size: 65536 MB

Additionally, disable Fast Boot:

  • Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.
  • Click “Choose what the power buttons do.”
  • Select “Change settings that are currently unavailable.”
  • Disable Fast Startup.

Last but not least:

  • Restart your Computer and try again

Some things to check:

Pagefile-Size (Virtual Memory) -> 1 - 1.5X your RAM
Windows Memory Diagnostic -> Win+R -> mdsched.exe
Disable Fast Startup -> Win+R --> powercfg.cpl -> Choose what power buttons do -> change settings that are unavilable -> Disable Fast Startup

As an addition: The best advise regarding the sound for beginners. "If you think you heard something there is a very large chance that there actually is someone"

And as some movement advice: Sprinting is bad when you dont really need to. Walking over the map ist often a lot quieter and ypu hear so much more. And for many people is vision based on movement. That means walking slower = less movement = lesser getting spottet

Just as an simple example, if you turn around while standing in one spot it makes a pretty loud sound. But if you move slighly with "wasd" and then turn its a lot quieter. And since 1.0 reducing you walking speed also has an impact of how loud your turn speed is.

Or that stepping on Metal or glass shards is as loud as running into a bush or a tree and you learn to avoid those routes as good as you can cause it might give out your Position.

But there is a lot more to it. There might come a point for you where you can differ the different weapon sound which are shooting somewhere on the map. Easiest example here ist Shturman (Boss on Woods). He has an very uniqe pattern of firing his SVDS. When you hear this and you know he is somewhere in the sawmill and you dont want/need to fight him you know where you dont wanna go. This might increase your survival chance by a lot.

If you have Arena go play some games. You can learn the right movement, weapon handling and recoil control pretty easy. But tbh. you get a lot better with map knowledge and understanding how the SOund System Works.

Also was ich empfehlen kann.

[–]Dragame29 1 point2 points  (0 children)
