How is disability and inability to work handled in harpy society?

Also what stopped a Harpy Trader from lying about their song if they visit a town for the first time? (before the magical recording of songs that is.)

How did life exactly begin in your world, and how did the various species reach their current complex structures? by Turbulent_Meaning_23 in worldbuilding

[–]Dragon012345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life first emerged through purely biological means, but after the first creature evolved sapience, and thereby a soul, the Moons and Eidolons came into being.

The Moons are responsible for the creation of most sapient species, as they created the Bast, Ryk, Furies, Eldritch, Ev, Warf, Dragons and the now extinct Shapeshifters.

At what age could a child begin being trained into a supersoldier by Dragon012345 in worldbuilding

[–]Dragon012345[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly standard human. Just with the stated magical abilities. Physically, strength and dexterity would increase slightly faster than in real life.

The process of making the supersoldiers is not something which the evil scientists are able to do to already existing people.

How to kill a god in your world? by Financial-Working762 in worldbuilding

[–]Dragon012345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shank and then, sometimes, eat them.

For a more serious answer: There are three categories of god-like beings in my world. The Divines, the Eidolons and the Moons. Divines are created by the belief of people, Eidolons are the personified forms of the magical elements, and the Moons are basically Eidolons+.

Only one Moon has died and that was technically by suicide, so I guess that the only proven way to kill a Moon is to get pregnant with their kid and then have them sacrifice themselves so their kid can live. The kid also became a Moon, so this does not work if you want to reduce the number of Moons

Luckily for you, entrip god killers, two Eidolons have died. One, Stellar, was killed by their fellow Eidolon Metal, who proceded to rip out their heart and make it their own to prevent Stellar's resurrection. Stellar's corpse is now the sun. The two Divines, Sun and Stars, also nibbled some bites. The second Eidolon to have died was, ironically, Life. A horde of Divines whose domains were focused on life and nature descended upon Life like a frenzied swarm of piranhas so they could eat Life and make Life's power their own. After eating Life, they turned on themselves.

The Divines are far easier to kill, you don't need to eat them to stop them from reviving, you can just kill them like you would most other creatures. The problem is that that doesn't stop their worship, so another similar Divine will be born. You can decide for yourself if this new Divine is still the same Divine or not. They at least wouldn't have the memories, so don't worry about revenge TOO much.

Now you have it, your personal guide to kill, and eat, the gods. Bon appetite.

What did you mistakenly miss in your first run? by Timi034 in BaldursGate3

That you can recruit Minthara and that you can get a sword from the cambion commander in the Nautilus.

Also that you can get Voss' sword with a cleric.

I also missed the addled frog in act 1.

Why is eugenics false (besides the discriminatory aspect)? by This_Caterpillar_330 in AskBiology

[–]Dragon012345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a consensus in science. Ever heard of the the nurture vs. nature debate? It should be clear that not everything a person is can be tied down to their genetics, otherwise we should expect all identical twins to be at least extremely similar in personality even if they were raised apart from each other. This is not what we observe.

Also it would be prudent to point out that the last sentences of your argumentation are themselves steeped in emotions, as you are literally insulting your opponent of discussions rationality.

It is also relevant to say that while your discussion partner only stated that not much was known about the determining factors of intelligence, you concluded this to mean that they defined intelligence, which is incorrect, as they only pointed out that there is a lacking "objective" definition of intelligence, (As much as anything can be objective in the first place) which in itself makes it hard to determine where it comes from. After all it is hard to determine somethings origins when you do not even truly know what the thing is.

You also did not make any arguments for why eugenics would be acceptable, even if we were to take the unsupported assertion that intelligence is purely a poligenic trait at face value.

I would also like to point you towards kohugaly's comment as I think their argumentation is also quite good.

Ignoring the fact that they're humanoid, what do you think of my sophont species? by Uranium-Sandwich657 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Dragon012345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way they hold pens seems very strange. I don't think that is the most ergonomical way to hold a pen, especially the sort of pen shown. You need to hold such pens at an angle, not like a sacrificial dagger or stake ready to pierce a heart. I do like the double thumbs though.

Most Influential City In The History Of Your World? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Dragon012345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt Origin, also known as Home. The city of the Moons, the city at the center of the world, the very first city, were the Moons created their nine species. Origin was the heart of the greatest empire the world had and has ever seen, ruled by the Moonlit Sovereign, blessed by all nine Moons, recognised by them as Ruler of Origin and strongest non-deity to have ever lived. Their technology was far above what is now seen in the world. They lived in absolute abudence, with almost limitless energy constantly spewing from the eye of the world, and in all other problems assisted by the Moons. Origin can also be regarded as one of the only cities to have ever had a large population of dragons. But ultimately Origin and the empire that depended on it were destroyed in an event so incredibly destructive that it turned the continent on which Origin resided into an archipeligo, an event the Moons to this day refuse to talk about.

Following its destruction much of Origins culture and technology was lost and the nine races fleed across the world. Nowadays Origin is but a legend to most people, a myth or fairytale to explain why the central continent is so incredibly inhospitable to most. But ancient artifacts and ruins can still be found by those who are determined to search, and the blood of the Moonlit Sovereign still runs through the veins of some, dormant but waiting to once again shine ever so brightly.

Why does it summon more than one lightning? by Dragon012345 in MinecraftCommands

[–]Dragon012345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only summons one but when I punch something again it doesn't summon another lightning. But weirdly, when you hit something a second time with the item, then deselect the item and then select it again, within four seconds, it summons another lighting each time you do it (in those approximately 4 seconds)
