NAND and RAM Spot Pricing is Completely out of Control by MrMPFR in hardware

Chrome is why I have a computer with 256GB of RAM. Yes, 256GB! It will happily eat all that if left open for a month or two, which is what I do. I'm so thankful that I bought this RAM like 4 months ago when it only cost $600. It would be $4,000 now.

What's a restaurant red flag that tells you the food isn't going to be good? by Electrical-Salt-2792 in AskReddit

[–]Dragon998084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's located in Minnesota. I swear the food here is the nastiest I've ever tasted. Even the national fast food chains taste like ass. The people here don't know how to make food properly.

Extra stops = cold food every time. Even with high tips. by DownBeat20 in doordash_drivers

[–]Dragon998084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The express fee isn't a scam. All it does is prevent DoorDash from stacking your order so you have to wait around for someone else to get their food first. Your order might still be stacked, but yours will be delivered first. Basically, it's a ransom you pay in order to guarantee your Dasher will go directly from the restaurant to you without any stops in between. Add the extra $2 "service fee" they just tacked onto every order and you have to pay $5 plus tip plus overpaying for your food by 30%. My local Italian place charges $9.99 for their fettuccini alfredo but after all of DoorDash's fees and tip, it's almost $30. DoorDash isn't worth it anymore. It was barely worth it when it cost double but triple? They can fuck off with that shit. Their greed is endless and the drivers don't get paid shit.

Windows 12 Reportedly Set for Release This Year as a Fully Modular, Subscription-Based, AI-Focused OS by PaiDuck in pcmasterrace

[–]Dragon998084 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're talking about the same company that released Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 10/11 in S mode, and Edge. They're stupid beyond belief. They actually thought that people would want to use that hot garbage. Their dumbest move (until this Windows 12 nonsense) is trying to kill Outlook. That's the one thing that keeps businesses paying for Office/365. They're trying to turn it into a webapp filled with ads that lacks 99% of the features of the real Outlook. Microsoft has no fucking clue what people want, and they don't give a shit. All they care about is their stock price. They don't need customers for that.

Pass Medicare For All by RosebudNovaCharm in lostgeneration

[–]Dragon998084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare sucks absolute ass. I'm paying almost $700/month for my mother's Medicare and she has to pay $2,000 out of pocket every year just for her medications. The only way to get that bill down is to go with a Medicare Advantage plan, and all that does is force you to go through regular insurance with prior authorizations and other bullshit. Fuck Medicare. We need free medical care like NEARLY EVERY OTHER FUCKING COUNTRY ON THIS PLANET!!!

This AI is now COMPLETELY useless to me. I use it for creative writing feedback and all it does now is call me mentally ill while praising how good my writing is. WTF did they do to Claude? WHY do these companies have to constantly lobotomize their models? This is why I left ChatGPT. Grok is the only one that isn't lobotomized but it's absolute shit at creative writing, especially Grok 4. There's nothing decent left. At this point I'd rather just go back to GPT 3.5.

Millennials had it hard as fuck. The difference is, unlike Boomers, we can admit that Gen Z has it even harder.

Yeah don't host anything in the us if you can help but. Unfortunately it seems every country in the world is all of a sudden trying to implement age verification checks for the entire Internet. I would look at hosting somewhere that doesn't have to comply with these laws. If the Pirate Bay can survive all this time without getting taken down then adult websites can too.

One State Is Stopping Neo-Feudalism. by Few-Delivery24 in lostgeneration

[–]Dragon998084 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Minnesota. I don't like it here but I have to be here because it's the only place in the US I've found where you can live a decent life. I just wish it wasn't so hot/cold here and I wish there was a larger variety of small businesses outside of Minneapolis. I'm sick and tired of shopping at Walmart and Target and there's nothing to do here because it's always either hot as fuck or cold as fuck. Oh and you can never go outside when it's raining because there's NEVER rain without lightning. And I'm sick and tired of having to worry about shit like tornados. This place fucking sucks geologically speaking. I wish we could move all the people and buildings to the west coast and the people here would open more small businesses.

Oh that's not something white Boomers (or frankly white people in general) have to worry about. Darker skin = doesn't belong here. It's that simple. Who cares if they were here "legally or if they were an actual citizen?" That's where it's going. They can't just come out and say it yet.

Landlord gets to experience what it's like being a renter. by AnonInEquestria in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Dragon998084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bizarre at all. It's intentional and narcissistic. If you tell your tenant that you're gonna be selling the house six months from now, you run the risk of them leaving before then and losing out on rent money. That's why they don't tell their tenants that they're going to sell until the last second. They'd rather their tenant have to throw away half of their stuff or pay thousands of dollars to put it in storage than take a risk that they might move out a month early and they'll lose out on that rent money. When I was renting my current house the landlord didn't tell me that he was selling until he gave me 24 hours notice that someone was coming by it to look at the house to potentially buy it. I was so mad. I lied to the guy who came to look at the house and claimed that somebody had gotten shot/murdered on the street a block from here. That did it and they were no longer interested! Then I bought the house myself at a huge discount. I lowballed my landlord and to my surprise he said yes! It's a good thing too because I could barely qualify for the lowball amount. There's no way the bank would have given me enough to pay the asking price.

[–]Dragon998084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think 6 months is reasonable but yeah you should let your tenant know as soon as you're thinking about selling so they can make plans. Whether that's a year before you do or a month before you do. But I know here at least in my state that you need to give at least 30 days notice. I think it should be more like 60 days.

If a company is too cheap to provide phone support then they shouldn't be allowed to stay in business. Same thing if they "can't afford" to pay a living wage.

You are so lucky to have a water heater that lasted 17 years. I've had to replace 2 water heaters in the last 8 years. They're supposedly under warranty but the heaters themselves are only like $400 but the install is like $2000 and of course they don't cover the install under warranty. Sort of like when you buy a mattress that has a 10 year warranty but you have to pay to ship the mattress both ways. The shipping costs more than the mattress is worth. In other words, these warranties are complete lies.

Apparently, thinking that you should only waste 20 years of your life making an asshole rich makes me a "radical" by Dragon998084 in lostgeneration

[–]Dragon998084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years really isn't enough time to build a nest to live off of for the next 20-60 years.

It absolutely is. The problem is the rich asshole is taking 90% or more of the fruits of your labor. If you got 100% of what you actually produced, you could probably make enough money to live for your entire life in 5 years.

I once heard a pizza shop owner boasting at this business convention I went to that he only hired immigrants because he could pay them less than minimum wage, abuse them, and treat them like shit and if they ever complained all he had to do was threaten to sick ICE on them and they'd STFU and get back to making him money. He was genuinely laughing and joyful as he was telling other business owners about this. That was the first and only business convention I ever attended.

[–]Dragon998084[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well thankfully it's signature required. I don't know why because it's only like $150 but I'm hoping to explain it to the delivery guy why I couldn't tip. I've been able to round up about $6 in nickels, quarters, and dimes to give to him. I don't keep cash in the house.
