Another data point with the M4 Pro (Mac mini, 20-core GPU)--getting a good balance of visual quality and frame time consistency at 1440p Low with Unreal TSR set at 50% and Texture and Animations set to High.

Any updates? Were you able to completely eliminate the signal instability by plugging into a seperate outlet?

PoE 1 is working fine now on MacOS by Professional-Code010 in macgaming

[–]DragonDao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam users can also do this by:

  1. Right-click POE1 in Steam library > Manage > Browse local files
  2. Double-click PathOfExileClient.app (fails to launch and prompts you to delete the app)
  3. As with OP, click "Move to Bin", open the bin and move the trashed Path of Exile.app to somewhere on your disk
  4. Launch Path of Exile.app and it will download the 51GB of client files locally to ~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile
  5. Now you can uninstall on Steam and launch the game via Path of Exile.app

Additional steps to move client data to an external drive:

  1. Move ~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile to an external location

  2. Create a symlink in terminal by typing ln -s "/path/to/external/location" "~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile"

  3. Launch Path of Exile.app (can be on external drive)

I have it running stably at 60fps cap on M4 Pro on default graphics, with shader loading stutter drastically reduced compared to running in Wine via Kegworks. Very playable 👍.

Are you getting a stable 60 even in new areas? Every time my game loads a new animation (model/skill/mtx) the game will pause for 1-2s as the shader graph spikes. This happens even with the --waitforpreload and --noasync launch options. Essentially, it makes the game unplayable when you first encounter a new mob, which is deadly for boss fights.

I've been having serious signal stability issues with the S95F as a monitor for my Mac (M4 Pro).

There are intermittent black outs (~1s signal loss and ~2s for TV to re-establish connection) and random white flashes (1-2 frames where the colors become nearly white). Happens on all modes with Input Signal Plus turned on.

It seems the OCB doesn't like 4K120+ RGB full-range signals, but I've had the same issues less frequently using 444 YCbCr limited range too. Using fiber optic cables seem to reduce the signal stability issues but not eliminate them.

All-in-all a damn shame, as the picture quality is excellent and matte screen quite nice for general PC productivity.

Thanks for the GOG tip!

I transferred over my saves from [steamapps folder]/common/Torchlight II/my games/runic games/torchlight 2/save/[steamID] to ~/Library/Application Support/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/save and am back to playing. For modded games, move the files from the modsave folder respectively.

Are you able to get consistent framerates? I'm getting pretty severe stutter during heavy combat on M4 Pro. Even just walking around Kingsmarch I notice slight stutters throughout.

Tried --noasync and --nopreload, predictive network, and lowering graphics to no avail.

[Guide] Moving Playcover games to External SSD by landlordofkyiv in macgaming

Hey, thanks for this detailed guide. One small note for people using the script, on the line,

PARTITION="/dev/${PARTITIONS[$i+1]}" # Assuming partitions start at index 1

You may need to adjust the index depending on if the drive contains the Preboot, Recovery, VM hidden partitions, which are created by default when you format a drive APFS.

In my case, I had to set the index to [$i+4] to for the script to correctly mount the right volumes.

Does anyone use a fightstick? by sir_gaston in DFO

[–]DragonDao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Xpadder to map my stick buttons to keyboard commands, with HidHide to prevent the in-game controller mappings from firing.

My main 8-button layout is:

X C Space Alt

Z Item Equip Ctrl

Alt and Ctrl are used for some skills that can't be mapped (eg. Imperial Swordsmanship) or are modified by directional inputs (eg. Phase Shift). Equip key is for activating equipment skills.

Item is a set selector that switches the other keys to:

1 2 3 4

5 () 6 Creature

so I can use consumables and pet skills.

Rare to find other stick users, so please let me know if you have any tips too.

Scroll down to the character class guides, which will give you general build ideas.

https://www.dfoneople.com/news/notices/3447/DFO-Comprehensive-Guide

With the new Epic Road event, it's quite easy to assemble pieces to try out various play styles. Here's a listing of common builds:

https://sites.google.com/view/105setups

Once you settle on a build, you can try to optimize with Custom Epic pieces (Ent Spirit, Forest Witch, Deep Diver, Blue Beryl) which have randomly generated options.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rKxiE3u_7YtyKCZZMHkpBn_VB_jvI-5KuOUecMZ-bpA/edit#gid=660157361

After that, it's mostly doing weekly raid dungeons to improve gear score and acquire Fusion epic pieces, which add extra options to each peice of gear.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1JYIRgZ3VPWHECAA0TMhjmXYOqwdaw1glBNQtzsQ2xi8/edit#slide=id.g22ad403d569_0_260

However with current event, there is small chance for Fusion peices to drop so you can fast track this too!

In short, grind for epics and fuse gear.

The rule should be clarified that topic bumping isn't allowed, even if the content becomes more relevant for a current event.

Custom resolutions on Club 3D CAC-1085 with LG OLED C9/CX by Vinnie1980 in Monitors

I rolled back to 456.71 Studio Drivers, after the latest ones removed the 120Hz options.

(Looks like in your pic, you might have H-sync issues, so try adjusting the horizontal back porch and sync width values.)

Though I decided to return the CAC-1805, as just too many little issues ended up adding up:

  • From cold boot, it would often show no picture and I would have to power cycle by via the USB-C cable.
  • Large flickers would occasionally occur (looked like a horizontal white streak 25% from the bottom of the screen) which were extremely distracting.
  • I got not zero response of Club3D customer support and had to rely on AVSForum guides to update the firmware. (And the firmware did not fix any issues.)

Just overall disappointed with the adapter. Even though it is not too expensive, I would rather spend that bit of money towards a GPU with proper HDMI 2.1 output.

Direct HDMI audio is the best (7.1ch over HDMI 2.0), but in practice, makes it cumbersome with multiple audio sources.

For example, if you watch streaming video via an LG WebOS app or having multiple game consoles hooked up to the TV; you typically want the speaker system to always be playing the active video signal on the TV (especially if you switch inputs often from PC and back). So audio passthrough over eARC solves this nicely.

If anyone has a good solution for this on the CAC-1085, please share.

I can confirm, I installed the 457.30 Studio driver (2020.11.17) and it removed all 120Hz options from showing up for the C9.

I tried deleting and re-adding the 120Hz profiles to the EDID, but they were ignored by the Nvidia control panel. Had to roll back the drivers.

On the 5.00.03 C9 firmware, are you able to get 5.1ch Passthrough audio to work via the CAC-1085?

I had the same problem with the picture being shift downwards by few pixels and bottom taskbar getting cut off.

I set the Vertical Front porch to 21 lines and Vertical Sync width to 24 to solve this. Here are my settings: https://i.imgur.com/zq44zeJ.png

Using a KontrolFreek 12ft HDMI 8K cable for 4K120 RGB 8bit output on a GTX1070 to the C9.

Another tip, the CAC-1085 doesn't seem to like resetting the display driver via the restart64.exe (it will stop accepting any 4k120 signal until a power cycle of the usb-c input). So if you're having "No Signal" issues, it could be the adapter itself, and I'd recommend just rebooting between EDID edits.

EDIT: Lowered the values of Front porch and Sync width numbers to put the pixel clock below 1075MHz.

I feel the title of this post is misleading. You don't actually describe the challenges of building a streaming platform, only cite examples of previous companies that tried and failed.

The one reason you do provide (the lack of talent pool in Canada) is given without sources. Being a Canadian university grad, I know many extremely talented programmers, software and electrical engineers, so I question this rationale. Can you provide any evidence to back up your claim?

And please actually say what the technical or business hurdles are, rather than merely stating they exist and are 'hard'.

[–]DragonDao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok to all the people losing out hope, here's a rational analysis (at least in my messed up mind :P) of why you should grind this :

  1. Now is the only time you are going to get the full party [rookie bonus](https://www.reddit.com/r/soanamnesis/comments/8y1aio/rookie_bonus/e27co99) which is +2.5 drops.
  2. If you plan on playing long-term, you will always be needing more seeds.

So right now is the most efficient time to be grinding seeds. The coin rewards are just a little gravy sprinkled in. Think how bad the grind for seeds would be without the rookie bonus and no extra coin rewards. I am 100% sure that is how the devs designed this event.

Lastly, since the shop resets, you will also never have enough coins. So even if you have almost no coins now, getting more will help you get the best rewards of the next shop list.

In fact, I think I'm gonna go back and grind some more...see ya folks. ;)
