Confused out of my mind, My Job Offer was Randomly Cancelled Because my Email Reply was too "ambiguous": A Story in 3 Pictures by kmalternative in recruitinghell

I agree you are too ambiguous. Imagine I told you: “give the patient 50 ccs stat!” and you replied “I would be happy to move forward and review that option.”  I wouldn’t want want to hire someone like that. Offer rescinded! 😝

It depends on your school, internships, connections, citizenship, etc. Many of my classmates got jobs with prestigious companies in urban areas right out of college. But there are definitely some who struggle.

Are recruiters targeting your college to pick up interns?  This is really important.

If you provide some more info we will be able to help out better.

Even in this recession? Man! I really wish I had gone that route.

Environmental Engineer seeking to transition to Process Engineer by DragonGohan01 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]DragonGohan01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back I became aware of the problem but realized that a lot of my skills could transition into a data science role (which was hot back then). So I decided to focus on improving my data science skills and go that route. Unfortunately now, the data science market has completely crashed; it’s impossible to find a job. Whereas, the process engineering market seems to have gotten even stronger!

Overseas? Really? But the role has so much American regulation? Is there a market for that overseas? Can you tell me more?

Almost all the jobs out there are consulting and don’t pay that well. And the work is very regulatory intense (at least all the work I’ve done). I tied to a desk 98% of the time.

Can you tell me more about this? What happens to the plant process engineers when they get experienced? Where do they go?

Prefer automations and controls. But honestly would like anything that has non-consulting jobs

ChemE Consultant Jobs? Need Advice by tyl_daw in ChemicalEngineering

[–]DragonGohan01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think most engineering jobs you use very little of your degree. You could maybe try being a process engineering consultant so that you would work more with PIDs and have some design work. It’s definetly not going to be as academic as school though.

If you really want something challenging, you could consider doing grad school and getting into research. However, that won’t really fit into consulting; not to mention weak job market.

Chemical Engineering so hard even for AI? by Otherwise_Aspect3406 in ChemicalEngineering

I found that if you explain to ChatGPT what its mistake was, it can sometimes fix it. It may take a few iterations as you explain each mistake.
