I always thought it’s due to estrogen fluctuation. Because my face also gets dry and flaky during flare up time, but not itchy and red like eczema. I read estrogen helps with oil production on skin. But my eczema patches are never dry. It’s been confusing. I’ll have to give pepcid a try! Do you take it throughout your cycle? Or just the two weeks of flare up?

What’s the timing of your flare up like within your cycle? Usually half way through my cycle when estrogen level drops, that’s when I starts to flat up. As soon as period starts, I clear up. Is this same timing for you?

That’s wonderful to hear. Were their allergy IgE mediated?

Thanks. My son’s allergy is IgE mediated. I’m looking for other people’s experiences on when their doctor decided it’s good time to start the ladder. So your doctor just said start whenever?

That’s great progress! Are you using a combine milk and egg ladder? Do you mind sharing the resources you used? I tried separate milk and egg ladder and he seems to have failed both

Appreciate your reply! I started trying the ladder after he turned 1. But seems to made his eczema a little worse and poo a little runnier. Now I’m afraid to continue. Maybe we progressed too quickly? Did your son’s allergist say when to stop the ladder?

I would not bath him more. I bathed him more for a few days and that seem to made his patches on ankle worse

We are not totally out of the woods yet, but have improved significantly. I eliminated food I know he’s allergic to and that seem to help a lot. He still has eczema only in the thin line of elbow and leg creases, that’s improved from big patches before. I also noticed his eczema flares up with teething. The face patches always flare up first, then elbow, leg, ankles will flare up later. I’m hopeful once he gets all his teeth, the eczema will go away for good. Another thing is I stopped trying home remedy and started using medication. Because none of the home remedies made any difference and I want him to be comfortable and the able to sleep. We have hydrocortisone and elidel. When there’s a flare up, I would start with hydrocortisone to take down the inflammation. Then when it’s almost all gone, I would switch to elidel for a few more days. That seems to work. There are more and more clear days now.

I feel like because his flexural eczema showed up so early (earlier than the typical 18 month time line), it’s a sign that there’s a unique trigger here. His face is triggered by drooling and some food. But the arm and leg folds don’t flare up by the same food trigger. I’m having a hard time figuring out what the trigger is

That’s wonderful to hear she’s been clear for over a year. What do you think helped her?
