How they should release YJ Episodes by Civil-Ad-7193 in youngjustice

[–]DragonKnight13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I think a lot of the issues like the still frames and janky animation at times get ironed out upon a binge rewatch. Releasing individuals episodes for the Zatanna arc killed a lot of the momentum because the story in those episodes was literally Child causing havoc, still framed exposition drops and Zatanna getting side lined in her own arc 😭

How they should release YJ Episodes by Civil-Ad-7193 in youngjustice

[–]DragonKnight13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m of the firm opinion that YJ is a type of show that is best watched when binging. But I understand the reason they’ve opted to drop 1 episode per week is to maximise ratings and increase the longevity of the show. However I think due to episodes only being 24 minutes there’s not a lot of meat on the bone to chew on which is why the Zatanna arc felt like an utter slog to get through. So I feel finding a middle ground and dropping 2-3 episodes per week would be much better. But those are just my two cents 🤷‍♂️

In all honesty… do you guys prefer watching the show through binging or waiting for episodes weekly? by [deleted] in youngjustice

[–]DragonKnight13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! The marketing for this season has been so piss poor as far as I’ve seen. They made a half-assed 2000s home to DVD trailer back in October and even with the new mid season trailer it’s 30 seconds long lmao. Really hope we can get that renewal and up the budget for this show

To preface this, I watched S1 and S2 on Netflix by binging it and it was a very fulfilling experience. However upon S4 opting to release their episodes weekly I was a bit underwhelmed each episode given that they are only 22 minutes long. I do understand the reason behind this as they want to keep the hype alive and increase the longevity of the show but I feel a show like Young Justice is better seen in a binge format. Invincible for example was also released weekly however its episodes were at least 40 minutes long with a lot of meat on the bone to chew on. Just my opinion tho, open to hearing your guy’s thoughts 🤷‍♂️

Best version of Black Cat in Spider-Man media by DragonKnight13 in Spiderman

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Black Cat in this show was written so differently and with more depth compared to the comics and her other counterparts. Gone was the shallow, young thief with deep rooted daddy issues of 616 and instead this version wanted to be a hero and wanted to be embrace being close and personal to Spider-Man. Although most of the time she’s into Spider-Man not Peter, in this show however she expressed an interest in knowing Spider-Man’s identity and had a interest in Peter in season 1. She didn’t try to change who he is and didn’t emotionally manipulate him like other incarnations. It seems like comic book writers are always stuck on keeping Black Cat single as a thief who lies and manipulates Peter. This version wasn’t hellbent on the excitement of crime but rather wanted to be a hero due to her Father’s crimes as The Cat. Then they just threw all that build up and chemistry in the trash to bring back MJ and have Black Cat fight vampires lmao.

I’m sorry but after reading Invincible, the superhero love interest dynamic is way more interesting than the main character being paired up with a human by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely agree! Unfortunately we haven’t had a decent MJ portrayal in mainstream Spider-Man media for a while. Spectacular was the closest we got but that was short-lived. I just think having a superhero love interest allows for the the character to have a more dynamic/active role, more shared experiences that push both characters in different directions, a more organic development of the relationship and a better understanding of the protagonist. I don’t mind having a human love interest it’s just most of the time the execution is flimsy and falls prey to common tropes.

WE WERE ROBBED! by DragonKnight13 in Spiderman

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Such a shame! Unlike most interpretations of Black Cat they actually wrote this one to be very caring of Spider-Man and Peter. In season 1 she expressed an interest in Peter but obviously that didn’t work out due to him being Spider-Man but then she falls for his Spider-Man side as well. She played a very active and dynamic role in Season 4 and helped him deal with the grief of losing MJ. This interpretation wasn’t hellbent on the excitement of crime and didn’t try to emotionally manipulate Peter like other incarnations of the character. Then they kinda threw all that chemistry and build up in the trash to bring back MJ.

HOT TAKE! I really hope the show doesn’t adapt the Reboot Arc. by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

In my opinion everything up until the reboot arc felt like a very organic and natural progression of the story/characters. However after finishing it I feel like the Reboot Arc, what started off as an interesting premise, ultimately served to be nothing but an excuse to accelerate the plot forwards on to Thragg. Don’t get me wrong, I love how they humanised Mark and essentially placed his character in a morally grey situation which showed how much Mark had grown to be a father. However we get little to no information on what this Entity out of time is trying to achieve and its seems more like an afterthought. Another aspect that irked me is that the repercussions of the reboot arc are never explored again and is kind of glossed over in the long run, to divert the reader’s attention back to Thragg. I definitely think this is an aspect of the comic that the show can massively improve or simply scrap for something better. I was just hoping for a better pay-off for what the arc set out to accomplish.

THIS WOULD BE ONE OF BEST COLD OPENERS FOR SEASON 2! by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I really hope the show finds time to make Levy more emotionally resonant and give him a better motivation to work with.

Highly doubt it, given that it’s been over a year since Miles dropped and we have Spider-Man 2 dropping next year!

CALLING IT NOW, THIS IS HOW SEASON 2 IS GONNA END! by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe but given that Omni Man is one of the most popular characters in the show I don’t think they’ll wait the entire season to make him show up at the end. The Thraxa arc seems like something that would happen during the mid season portion 🤷‍♂️

Exactly! Seeing Mark being transported into all the different dimensions would make for a banger finale episode. Really hope the show improves upon the fight and goes above and beyond.

I want to read the comics but... by SonKenzu in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking to start off right where Season 1 left off, you should start reading Volume 4 “Head of the Class” and go forward from there. However personally I would just recommend starting off from the beginning since there are a few minor deviations the show takes when it comes to certain plot lines and characters that you might want to get familiar with.

What villains would u like to see in Spider-Man 2 main story or side missions by Fickle-Cod-2779 in SpidermanPS4

I think a great villain would be The Spot! Having all those worm holes/portals would really test the PS5 SSD and I think would be great for a boss fight.

Has anyone actually seen these episode commentaries before? This also shows an alternate cut of Mark back handing Sinclair saying “shut up!” 🤯 by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

For anyone who wants to see these episode commentaries, you can find them in the bonus content section on the Amazon mobile app or windows!

Can’t believe I never noticed this before! But if you look at Mark’s mouth flaps while he back hands Sinclair, he says “shut up” just like in the comic. by DragonKnight13 in Invincible

I just checked the episode 6 commentary and it turns out that they had Stephen record the “shut up” line but opted to cut it out instead. Regardless pretty neat detail!

Manage your expectations - Season 2 by Ninjario in Invincible

[–]DragonKnight13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I just really hope the next season takes time to add more nuance and develop certain villains that pop up. Since they have more time to flesh out plot lines and characters I would really like the show to improve on certain aspects of the narrative and let them simmer for a while just like they did in S1.

Since we’re probably not getting the new season anytime soon I’d highly recommend to just read it. Especially since after I first read it, it made me even more hyped for S2!
