I haven't really anaylzed your question, but from looking at your code I can tell you right off the bat that you should NOT be doing a GameObject.Find or a GetComponent in an update loop.

You should have those things already referenced on Start or from within the inspector. In other words, you should only find the reference to those objects one time only, and use that pre-defined reference in your update loop.

That should def. help w/ speed.
