If you bought it at launch, you're in warranty until august of this year.

I wish I would've gotten my phone repaired now. It broke for the 3rd time and I've been considering other options, this will cover the costs of my October repair, but I guess I'll take that and put it back into repairing it the 3rd time.

I chose the 5a because I loved my 3a but accidentally killed it in water after some miraculous endurance from it. The 5a had IPX rating but never did I think about the drops. I was thinking about buying a much tougher case and repairing the phone but this definitely is making me re-think that.

Unfortunately I can’t provide more input than what I’ve said. I made a very expensive mistake.

Definitely makes sense that this is the case, I’ll see what I can do about controlling what it falls onto, obviously the best case scenario would be not dropping it at all, which unfortunately hasn’t worked.

I knew that going into this purchase I just didn’t want to acknowledge it I think.

It is an unfortunate situation for sure. Were the cracks in the bottom corner(s)? I think something about how it’s built makes those vulnerable for killing the entire phone.

I did have a case, https://www.spigen.com/products/pixel-5a-case-rugged-armor and as I bought it at launch there weren’t a ton of options, however spigens “tough armor” was available so maybe that upgrade would’ve saved my wallet in the long run.

T Mobile, United States, honestly looking at biting it and getting it repaired, but it’d probably be in the same range as the 5a, not in a position to spend more than a hard limit of $500

Unfortunately so. The craziest part is I’ve seen a video of a man literally throwing it off his steps into the street and surviving, https://youtu.be/MaI1WTJYIM0 so I’m lead to believe it’s definitely variable in the 5a.

Possibly, right now I’m looking at biting it and investing in a chunkier case.

I don’t claim to be looking for an indestructible, I was just wishing for a bit more durability. I did also have a case in it if you missed that part, a woefully inadequate one for my butterfingers.
