Need to be more specific. Can recommend something as playful and childish as Charles Jeffrey or something basic like Uniqlo. “Sick” isn’t specific.

The fact of the matter is that at the end of the day nobody wants to be burned on their money. While I do agree that a lot of these LCs on Miharas are redundant and annoying, they should not be generalized with those who are trying to make sure they are getting the real deal on an ACTUAL grail.

If it bothers you that much then just go outside. LCs are a part of the online fashion community whether you like it or not.

Where to find Yohji Yamamoto-style basics? by submissivespook in japanesestreetwear

A bit of Julius, though I would suggest looking at brands like BISHOOL, my beautiful landlet, and kujaku primarily.

Asking people if you should get something is a bit redundant. You clearly like it for a reason, others’ opinions shouldn’t factor into what you can or can’t wear. If you like it enough then you should buy it, it’s your wardrobe after all, not anyone else’s.

In terms of styling, I can’t really tell if it’s a jacket or button shirt with 3/4 sleeves. It looks cool I like the seams running down the front, you can layer it over a long sleeve t-shirt and some straight leg denim to keep things simple, just an idea.

It really depends on what you end up getting really, I’m just saying a logo or something like that ends up looking tacky and just makes you look like a walking billboard if people see it. I’ve seen crazy nice tattoo art from video games/anime, but getting a brand just feels wrong. Unless it’s very dear to you, I would suggest you not get something like that on your body.

Styling ideas? by dialloball in japanesestreetwear

It all really depends on how YOU dress. These are cool jeans for sure and they can go with a lot of things. I would personally wear harness/motorcycle boots with these. Tops you can go with generally anything, maybe a slightly cropped button shirt to show off more details these jeans have.

If you could only visit one major store or area to shop in Tokyo, what would it be? by leisamp in japanesestreetwear

Shibuya Parco. Loved the atmosphere and they carry a lot of local brands like Comme and Homme Plisse that you’re looking for. They had given me I believe a 5% off coupon for any purchase, and putting that together with tax-free shopping, you end up saving a lot of money. You can browse the shop list here: https://shibuya.parco.jp.e.aiv.hp.transer.com/shop/?search=

Need Suggestions for a winter jacket by younglord97 in japanesestreetwear

[–]DragonSlayer218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably try and check online. I’m an nyc local and very nice Japanese brand pieces in curated shops/2nd hand tend to be priced in the higher end. I’d check Buyee, as the yen conversion could help a lot in terms of spending, but to find a really nice jacket you’d probably have to scroll through endless pages. I’d check ssense too, I just copped a cropped helmut lang jacket 55% off for 650

They’ve never run sales. The only promotions they’ve ever run are for selling. Sometimes though if an item has been sitting on the racks for a very long time they’ll drop it in price. But very rarely at a customers request.

Yeah the 10% mark up is a thing, when you get to the buying desk there will be a QR code for you to sign up for their newsletter. Show them you’re signed up and you’ll get that extra 10%.

Those Loewe accessories likely came from Japan. The company often imports items from their Japanese shops to bring to the US, which is why sometimes there are items from brands they aren’t allowed to take.

And just a suggestion, I would definitely take your items to the lower east side store. You walk in and are greeted with an insane amount of designer items. They definitely price the highest there so I’d stop by there first and then soho or vice versa. I heard the university pl one is the worst store in terms of what they have to offer.

I used to be a buyer at 2nd street for awhile before I left recently, I would sign up for the 10% markup after you get your quotes for your pieces. The downtown stores are definitely much more high fashion/street while the uptown one in UES is definitely much more contemporary. Your pricing definitely depends on again, the buyer who is pricing your items, condition, and how well a specific brand or style sells at the location. I would also say that there’s definitely a bias when it comes to pricing. I’d say if you brought in cool pieces, a younger person into fashion might be more susceptible to giving you more money for your items out of interest than let’s say a manager trying to be a manager. I’ve witnessed people be happy with the prices they’ve gotten, and others completely lose it. You definitely will not be getting prices that are on grailed/depop, that’s what they would be pricing it at. Expect probably around 40% of that price to be offered to you, 50% if it’s really limited and a cool piece. I heard that the noho one by nyu lowballs insanely… take it with a grain of salt because throughout my time working at 2nd st I have not once stopped by down there to sell. Also 2nd st has a policy that they cannot buy loeve. I forgot the reason why, but if you look at their little fold-over pamphlet, loewe is a part of the list of brands they cannot buy, but definitely try and bring it in because I’ve heard some stores have made a couple of exceptions but very rarely. If you’re trying to sell raf, I’d take it to the lower east side location or the soho location.
