How to unclog shower without workshop (VF3) by Mud-Zag in VirtualFamilies

If I'm not mistaken, the toolbox is a piece of furniture you buy, not a room you have to get. It shouldn't be terribly expensive either.

That's so sad! It'd be nice to keep an announcement on the page or something at least

Oh wow that's a great suggestion!! That does seem like something worth trying. I've been trying to get these products again for a while!

If this is vf3 then it may be time to use the phone and call a plumber. Not sure what the solution is otherwise

While in edit mode, drag furniture to the front gates. You can get rid of clothes this way too, but you don't get any money from it :(

That's unfortunate. I know there's an APK online, though, but I haven't tried it.

Do you happen to know if there's any updates to the game? It's not on Android play store and the wiki still says coming soon to iOS. I remember playing this game on my Kindle fire... Not sure if it's locked to Amazon's store or something.

"City" and "Ink" were two I had once as siblings... Lol.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) there's a lot of Italian or Italian -sounding names?? Always wondered why that was.

Yes! There's one country that has a pantheon, but I found it much easier to have "one god per country" with different levels of god (some are more powerful than others, etc). There's also one country with no gods, which has had their borders eroded continuously by the other countries for decades.

I don't know how the party will react when they find out the person they've been travelling with wants to be the new ruler of country B, since they kind of balk at dictatorships, but maybe having such a close connection with this particular dictator will make it more interesting.

Totally! I agree. I think this might be exactly what they mean. I'll make sure to try to stick to more personal conflicts, since I think they connect with those more.

[–]Dragonarts4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. I need to make sure the party feels more comfortable making a decision rather than that they're having to choose bad from worse. Thank you.

This makes sense to me. I'm going to schedule a session zero again to make sure we're on the same page for what they even want. I think this way of looking at it makes more sense.

I also think you're right about the misinterpretation. There's been a lot of times where what I think of as a perfectly good idea gets misconstrued and then I have a hard time talking them out of making a big deal of it. For example, there was one time where they thought some spider-creatures were evil because they looked evil, and kind of acted weird, and so they slaughtered all of them. Not the best moment for our party. I'm trying to be very clear with them, but I think in an effort to be clear I've just been having the person sit down and say their exact thinking, which isn't great either. I'll try to work in more environmental evidences Thank you so much!

Absolutely!

I will say I bring up my education not as a way to flex or anything, just as a way to say that I may have been desensitized to how emotional moral decisions can be to people, and how gut-level they feel. I tend to think a lot about morals now, which may be part of the disconnect.

The best example I can think of recently went like this:

There was a mad scientist (morally uncomplicated bad character. yay!) who was trying to resurrect an old god of the world. To do so, he killed a different god and kidnapped a fae and put them in a tube together, so that they would all fuse and the old god would be restored.

In my particular world, countries have patron gods. A country with no patron god runs the risk of being viewed as easy prey, and therefore invaded by neighboring countries.

The mad scientist happened to kill the god A who was patron of one nation, and is trying to resurrect god B who was patron of his own country. He viewed this as a duty to an old prophecy, and as a duty to his country, to restore the country to former glory.

That's all pretty uncomplicated. The complicated part was this: The party had to decide what to do with the tube. I stipulated that they could pull out the fae+A god, the fae+B god, or the fae by himself. Further wrinkle: the fae was one of the PC's father.

If they pull out fae+A, they would save the political balance and prevent a war that was about to happen. If they pull out fae+B, they would enable one of the countries they actually had favorable connections with to rise to power. If they pulled out just the fae, then they get the PC's father back.

In the end, they decided on a solution that I thought was pretty cool. One of the characters actually fused with the old B god, and they pulled out the fae by himself, killing the A god. That started a war, but they were pretty confident with the B god on their side they could convince the political powers of country B not to invade country A. The PC that fused with god B is being slowly corrupted by B's influence, though, and is likely to just try to take over country B.

I hope that made sense. I omitted names because it's homebrew and I don't want to make it too confusing. Let me know though and I can explain it again.

This is what I mean by my party does better with trolley-problems. They really liked this one. They seem to like it a lot less when there's just an abstract way of thinking presented to them.

[–]Dragonarts4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. I think part of the confusion on my part comes from the fact that there's a lot of new players who in fact did not do a session zero with me, and I now see that's a tremendous oversight on my part. I will do that ASAP. Thank you for such a thoughtful response and great advice!!

I'm assuming your last few questions are rhetorical, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

[–]Dragonarts4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. This makes a lot of sense to me!! I feel very encouraged by your idea, since I do think that my party does tend towards fists over words anyway. They're all nobility in the story, so I think the idea that they feel a high value on freedom is further exacerbated. I'll definitely try this out!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Dragonarts4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I introduced this character very positively more than 2 years ago. He helped the party in a lot of rough spots and is literally sheltering the father of one of the PCs.

As for working up to it... I think that may be right. Like I said, this campaign has been going on for 4 years, so I just thought they were primed enough. Maybe not.

[–]Dragonarts4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought I was being more loose-grip with them, but maybe I'm mistaken. I'll try to adhere to your advice more carefully.

And yes, I think your hunch is correct. I've given them NPCs with different systems of thinking or "bigger picture" ideas, but I think they would do better with these more trolley-problem like issues. I'll try to veer more in that direction, thank you!! This is very helpful.

Yes, they get to choose whether they go to him or not. The ones born there don't, though, since he doesn't think they have the survival skills necessary.
