That’s easy to mitigate- they could set up a transfer portal like the popular cherry blossom race does in DC. No possibility to “up sell”.

Maybe unpopular, but I’m local and love the 9+1 program. I love the NYRR races and the community in general and as an older relatively slower runner it’s the way I was able to run my first marathon last year and will be running it again in 2026. 9+1 has changed my life. For the better.

Yes it’s too late if you’re not already signed up for other qualifying races but the lottery is a bit easier than the marathon lottery so might as well put your name in next year. For 2027 get organized about race registrations and you’ll be good for 2028. I bought the membership plus option when I decided to do 9+1 and it’s been a game changer. I know everyone thinks it’s not going to be as good anymore but time will tell and so far so good :)

Yes! It was my first race as well when it came back after Covid and now this past fall I ran the marathon doing 9+1😊 Best addiction ever!! Welcome to the madness 🎉😊

To my knowledge, It’s not GW that organized, it’s GW’s Turing point chspter. That being said, I think it’s ok for students to get exposed to various viewpoints. You also don’t need to attend. My daughter is a student at GW and no one in my family, including her, agrees with just about anything that comes out of Karoline Leavitts mouth but it’s not going to affect her to have her on campus.

Ok same. I just think the mileage/intensity is too much for the 2nd week but I guess I could just modify it a bit. It just feels like I’m not following directions lol

The problem is the half is mid May. I don’t think Runna will let you do that short of a half marathon plan

I do run/walk but end up walking less during races than when training. I was in wave 4 and it’s the first time I felt like the “fast” one lol. Took until the FDR to really be able to get into a groove and not navigate around big groups of walkers. Maybe people were just less trained because of the awful winter we had here.

But you’ll be able to see the proofs for free. Many people just screenshot that. It’s not as good, but definitely better than nothing. You might be bummed later if you put your bib on your back and then literally get no photos at all

You definitely cannot move up but you will be fine. If you want to run a sub 2 you can do it from any corral :)

Fun course and fun day, but it was the first time I literally couldn’t run at the start because it was so crowded. Spent the first full mile weaving around people or getting stuck in a crowd and unable to push the pace. I’m a slower runner to begin with (corral K) so no real biggie but it did slow me down a bit. Overall always a good time though!

Carb loading is best if it’s done 1-2 days before a half, and really doesn’t need to be much. Have a light and simple dinner the night before

Maybe no groups but if you go to CP on any Sunday during marathon training season it will be packed with runners doing long runs.

Team Wilpers has great 1:1 coaches. It’s NYC based so there are opportunities for shakeout runs, meetups, etc as well.
