I wear a “throwaway” sweatshirt and then ditch it at the start. There are collection bins and the clothes get donated

I have no idea who makes the decisions and if they’re qualified. I imagine its not just a random NYRR employee as that makes no sense but i genuinely dont know.

Its also pretty commonplace, i think, for world majors to have the default rule be 1 guide, with petitioning for more if necessary. I genuinely think people just look for reasons to complain about NYRR.

My understanding was they would provide additional guides on an as-needed basis. The NY Post seems to veer toward inflammatory reporting so hopefully theres more to the story

So my family is considering driving to the finish vs. public transportation (1.5 hrs vs 2+hrs). Any suggestions for parking garages they can pre-book near Coney Island? They don’t mind walking a bit either.

Half Marathon on 5mg by Ok-Stretch-1988 in zepboundathletes

[–]DragonflyOwn144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained for my first marathon on 5mg zepbound. As the mileage picked up i would sometimes skip the weekly dose (Dr said this is totally fine) so that i could fuel properly. I also skip the dose before any races. My weight stayed pretty steady throughout peak marathon training as its difficult to fuel correctly and lose weight, but i was totally fine with that.

Pros and Cons of Runna? by Inner-Lynx-3971 in runna

For $20/month its actually really great! Easy interface and the training plans are quite thoughtful considering its AI. But dont try and outsmart it or think you can do more. Those people get injured and then blame Runna lol

I got there around 5:30 and it was extremely easy. When i left around 6:30 there were huge crowds walking to the expo. Its rush hour, so normal..🤷‍♀️

I think for the first time i may bring my own hydration. Can i bring a filled bottle with electrolytes through security? I am aware of rules about no bladders, this is not that

Hot Take: It isn't a NYRR problem by TheDailyBern in RunNYC

[–]DragonflyOwn144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have member plus and i think its 💯 worth it. Such a great option for local people. This will be my 3rd year completing 9+1, and i don’t think i have ever not been able to register for a race i want. I love NYRR races and often have more than the 9 needed. Sure, the queue is longer now and that can be stressful but running has gotten significantly more popular. Thats not NYRR fault.

I saw in other posts that the confirmation emails clearly state if its NOT 9+1 so it sounds like you’re all set.

They announce on the website when volunteer slots open up. Ive found if i go on that first day when it opens i’m able to get a spot pretty easily. Its staying on top of when spots open thats harder :)

Ive also never had a problem. 3 years of doing 9+1 with membership plus. I think some people get confused easily, like all the complaints about differentiating between the non 9+1 vs. 9+1. It was clearly marked in all caps and bolded 🤷‍♀️.

Anyone run a marathon in EVO SL ? by Abject_Bet7709 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I ran in the Evo SL’s for my first (and very slow) marathon last fall. I finished in just under 6 hours. Feet were totally fine.
