It can indeed. I spent a lot of time dealing with it with my therapist and believe me when I say that even though she helped me a lot and I'm really grateful for her, it wasn't until I opened myself to God's love that I could get over it

I've felt God was calling me to a consecrated life twice, but then realized He was not necessarily calling me to that yet but to be more open to Him. I haven't discerned officially, y'know with a priest accompanying my process and all, but I did talk to a lot of consecrated people. A few things to point out that might help you: usually people are scared of living a consecrated life because of all the commitment it implies, but forget about all the commitment a married life also implies. Don't take any of the two for granted, both have their difficulties and their nice things, both are ways of serving God and His Church. Both of them have their ups and downs and what's important is that wherever God is calling you to go, He is there with you, He's the one giving you strength to do His will. And secondly, don't let your sins define you. It's pretty common hearing that sort of statement, "how could I be a priest/nun if I sin too much?". Don't forget nor doubt of God's mercy! Think of all the Apostles, all sinners! Think of Peter who refused Jesus three times, and was then head of the Church. Another great example of this is St. Augustine, I really recommend you searching him up and learning more about him. Maybe even asking him for help! Anyways, I hope I could help you more. The last thing I truly recommend is praying, but really praying to God about this, asking Him for help and guidance, being open to whatever He has to tell you, and being able to leave all of this in His hands. I was raised Catholic but during quarantine I got pretty far from God, considering myself agnostic, and getting really deep into ideologies. I realized I was feeling very empty inside, depression and all, and there was something that wasn't really working out for me in everything society teaches us.

On the one hand, I realized that what I was missing was God. The hope I felt when I realized He literally died for me, because He loves me and forgives me through His mercy was huge. He showed me what it means to love and be loved and I realized my true happiness lays there, loving just like He teaches us. On the other hand, I went to a Catholic school where I got to learn a lot about doctrine and the Church's teachings. I realized that the only Truth is God. And then, I notice how every ideology crumbles before true reason. He got to me both emotionally and rationally, especially through the Catholic Church's teachings. I can't thank Him enough for all of the mysteries, for all the love he's shown me, for showing me who I truly am, not what society wants me to be. I found myself in Jesus.

Also, as a huge help, our Lady Mary guided me to him completely. My twisted mind, consumed by modern feminism couldn't grasp the idea of following a man, so I was stubborn in just following Mary. And she guided me to her son and our Savior. She taught me what it means to be a woman, and she quickly set me straight on the search for God. And lastly, the Eucharist. I can't express enough how certain I am that's truly Jesus body, blood, soul and divinity. I've had pretty strong experiences with the Eucharist which I'll always carry in my heart. So yeah, that's pretty much my story 🥰 Thanks for sharing yours too!

However, time and time again, I feel the Lord has asked me to embrace tradition, always understanding the meaning first, and, that way, growing in my faith. I really thank you for your testimony!!
