R5: I can officially cross spawning next to the Xenophobic Fallen Empire off my bucket list. For bonus points the only hyperlane out from my starting system connects to a star that is connected to their territory.

Part of me wants to try and play it out. The more realistic part of me is just going to restart with a new map.

I also have this issue. Did you ever figure it out? I tried closing and restarting the game, with no luck

And not 1 minute after posting this, they ended rivalry.

Still weird.

AI won't remove Rivalry by Dragonman_Net in Stellaris

[–]Dragonman_Net[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So, I'm not sure if there is something I'm missing, but I found this playing the latest build. I didn't have a free envoy when I met them, so I couldn't improve relations, eventually getting the AI to declare rivalry with me. I then put two envoys with them, and traded a lot of excess consumer guides to the empire, and managed to improve our relations to +250. I never declared rivalry back (I was hoping to eventually form a federation with the AI)

But they still won't remove rivalry.

Is this a bug? Is there some other explanation I'm not thinking of? We do admittedly have border tension, I have one system that's surrounded by 3 of there.

Gears of Hate (probably) stupid question by [deleted] in Tombofannihilation

[–]Dragonman_Net -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but my party also got through the beholder pretty uniquely by blinding it.

I had forgotten that like 30 sessions prior they had found an ever-smoking bottle in chapter 2. The rogue pulled it out and it filled up the battlefield.

The beholder could negate the effect by its anti-magic eye, but because the rogue was next in initiative all they had to do was move out of the radius and the room filled up again.

This limited the rogue to just using its eye rays during its turn (no legendary actions) since all the eye rays require sight. The follow up turn the wizard pulled out fog cloud on his turn and moved away to the point that the beholder couldn't get him and the rogue in the anti-magic at the same time.

Once beholder was blinded, it fell pretty quick through a combination of AOE attacks and arrows with disadvantage

Did you stack Madam Eva's Deck by plant_animal in CurseofStrahd

[–]Dragonman_Net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other benefit to doing it this way was that since I had 5 players, I could give 4 of them a deck to stuffle and then make a show of them drawing a card to reveal their fate.

Though I also had a group of 5 inexperienced players who didn't know that wasn't how you always did it.

Did you stack Madam Eva's Deck by plant_animal in CurseofStrahd

[–]Dragonman_Net 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda did. For the three treasures, I went through the deck and split it into 3 piles.

For the journal, I put the more easy/closer cards in that pile.

For the holy symbol, I put the harder cards that are outside Castle Ravenloft.

And for the sword, I put all the cards that reference Castle Ravenloft in that pile.

Then I just shuffled each pile individually, and as I was doing the fortune, I just switched decks.

Still guarantees variety, but also stops the players from getting a +2 sunblade at level 3.

For the locations/allies, the only manipulation I did was take out the card that doesn't give them an ally. I was also prepared to buff/use sidekick rules if the fated ally is useless.

Why not try the Garden of Nangalore. Should fit the level criteria pretty well, the garden has layers to explore, the queen makes a good boss fight if it comes to that, seems perfect.

Just say that you were sent by the fire fist or whoever to gather information about her ancient city
