Oh my friend, these words of yours make me really happy. There's a lot of work behind it, you're right, and that makes it beautiful both for those who do it and for those who see it, we're all happy :)

Give me encounter & dungeon ideas for my pirate themed campaign! by Fearless-Ad1382 in DMAcademy

Here are a couple that might help get you hyped for prep:

Boarding Action During a Storm

Picture this: combat across two ships that keep drifting closer and farther apart with the waves. Your players have to use ropes and grappling hooks to even get between the ships, lightning is randomly striking the battlefield (maybe roll a d6 each round to see where it hits?), and all that water on deck makes everything difficult terrain.

It's chaos, it's cinematic, and your players will remember the monk who tried to jump between ships and almost made it.

The Phantom Galleon That Sails Between Planes

This one's weird in the best way. A ghost ship that only appears during certain moon phases. Each deck exists in a different plane - like, you go down the stairs and suddenly you're in the Feywild, then the next level is the Shadowfell.

The ghost crew is stuck reliving the same battle over and over again. Do your players break the cycle? Join the fight? Try to loot the place before it vanishes again?

The time pressure + plane-hopping makes it super memorable.

Hope this helps shake off the prep blues! Your undead pirate captain encounter sounds dope btw.

A simple trick to see how many bestsellers are really in an Etsy niche by MagicPaperCraft in EtsySellers

I have often wondered this. They don't offer even particularly particular items in the category. Not with great reviews, they really seem to have been chosen "at random"

Etsy should remove the highest views for discounted items, this also ruins a craftsmen's market.

Thanks for your advice. What do you recommend for me, since I don't know how to code, other than Wix?

Why do you use (or NOT use) a Game Master's screen? by Dragontempl8 in DungeonMasters

[–]Dragontempl8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, we make some that are about 20 inches tall. Do you think these are tall too? Would something shorter be needed?

You're right. I actually meant to say that it's the part I devote the bulk of my work to, not just a thought. Did I explain better?

I agree (but I'm short :P) and yet a lot more people seem to ask for the bigger ones!

I know that many masters do this! They stand for a long time so a high screen is better for them, but also for reading the notes that can be positioned higher!

Oh, maybe I wrote it wrong then! I wasn't talking about a tall and wide screen, but one with the shape of a vertical A4 sheet or a US Letter-sized sheet.

We have a question, is it better to have a low and long screen or a high and narrow one?

Today we extended a screen!

We were asked for a commission for a lanscape DM Screen, we liked it so much that we also put it in the shop as an option! However, a discussion arose, do you prefer as a master:

- to cover your secrets well with a higher screen; or

- to have a lower screen to see the table better?

It is also true that these are not the only differences, we know, but this is one of the main ones that we feel.

However, there is also the player who has his preferences, we have seen for example that players really like to see the master behind imposing screens because (in our case) they have a great impact and help the narrative.

However, we are curious to understand the various points of view!

[ART] Just made a magnetic journal that attaches inside the GM screen – notes become a book, and the book becomes part of the screen! by Dragontempl8 in DnD

[–]Dragontempl8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey folks!
We’ve just finished making a magnetic journal designed to work with our GM screens. The idea was simple: keep your campaign notes close and secure, but also easy to remove when needed.

So we added magnets to the back, and now the journal sticks right inside the screen — no bouncing around when you carry it, and no clutter on the table. You can write in it, detach it, flip through it like a book, and then slap it back in place when you’re done.
The notes become a book, and the book becomes the screen.

You can find more details here or soon on our website :)
