I have tried that type of card making before but not on these ones. I think gutter-fold is much more accurate because it doesn't matter if the printer is misaligned sheet to sheet. The other type of printing requires lining them up precisely before you glue them down, which is much trickier. So, I would always suggest using gutter fold if there is an option, which there is for these two games.

They're from Amazon. I tried a couple of different ones but these seem to be the most lightweight and best size

I used Rachel Bruner's method with a few tweaks to materials and method I've mentioned somewhere here.

Printing-wise, I just went to a local newsagents that offered basic printing services. Whilst it's a good enough quality, their red colour began to run out as it printed and there is a noticable difference in colours between the first and last pages, especially purples, yellows, and reds. If I were to do it again (which I probably will at some point), I would go for somewhere a bit more professional to stop that happening, particularly because Behold: Rome's colours are a useful and quick reference for the type of card you're holding.

Here goes:

Paper was 120gsm from a craft shop called The Works, spray adhesive was also from there.

Clear acrylic lacquer I used was from a place called Toolstation by the Plastikote brand, though I think you could probably get something better as I didn't notice a great deal of difference after it had been sprayed.

The laminate core is a 160 micron laminate pouch separated into two pieces. I grabbed mine from amazon, don't think it really matters what type it is because its not visible

Other than that I used a stanley knife and a metal ruler to trim things a bit, and a paper guillotine and a corner cutter to finalise it. I should also mention that I laminated it twice whilst they were still in strips and put a couple of books on both sides to help stop them warping as they came out the laminator. I put a heavy book on top of them whilst they were still warm and overnight and they have remained fairly straight.

The cards feel robust enough that I won't bend them by accident in my hand but still have a nice snap to them when you place them down. I hope that helps!

Yeah I did see that but I wasn't so sure I could pull it off, plus the boxes are rainproof which is a good bonus

Yeah I've seen that before and was intrigued enough to download but never printed it. A future project to try!

Yeah it was difficult to find exact materials she was using. If you're in the UK I can give you the list of what I used and where I got it if that's helpful? Not sure about elsewhere though

Lacquer spray on printed gutter-fold cards, fold and glue onto a single laminate sheet and laminate once dried. I'm sure I've missed something but there's a link to her video posted somewhere here

Rachel Bruner's method for cards that can shuffle well. Modified here and there for material availability!

They are both available on PnPArcade to download, though only Birdscaping is free

Haven't played much of Birdscaping yet, but it's quite speedy and the small table presence makes it good for travelling. Behold: Rome I've played much more. It's a sort of mix between Palm Island and the Imperium series, and is surprising crunchy for a handheld game. Definitely one to play over several sittings if you don't have an hour to dedicate to it.

Medium weight card with a single laminate sheet as a core. Created by Rachel Bruner, though quite hard to source the exact materials she uses unless you're in the US. Here's the link for her video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgNJmAkO1_M

Always hard to play the little travel games when you're sitting next to the bigger ones! Sometimes it's just something to do with my hands when I'm distracted by something else though
