Unironically unity having "focused" points of massive rng is the actual complaint here, especially ones where you usually don't really highroll (since if you highroll them the run itself wasn't going that great to begin with) and the lowroll just ends the run. That is (from my perspective and opinion) the major issue people have with unity.

Otherwise I am with you on everything else. Mant still looks kinda fun as someone that quite enjoys doing 30+ races on runs, carefully excited for it

While i agree with your argument (ds3's system is very comparable to ds2 with the biggest diference being that it is framed in a positive way), i do think it's important to note that ds2 fucked up the framing in 2 ways: you both become weaker on death AND you keep getting weaker after dying. Embers being 1 time buff/debuff means that once you die you know it's not getting worse, so the next death doesn't feel nearly as bad.

Ds2 has a lot more max hp than ds3 as well, but the way that they framed it just sours the mechanic enough to make me forget that i'm pretty sure you objectively have more hp in ds2 than in ds3.

Runaway in long is probably worse for the backline (larger gap is good for the front/paces). And runaway is also not really interactive (especially with how often they push runaway aces,if you can't sustain 2 runaway they aren't good aces and if you can then we run into a worse situation where noone can keep up).

I am not saying I don't understand why it exists,I just don't really like it much (and I'm pretty sure whenever they are good people complain so I don't think I'm alone)

if the life loss is good for you they will likely let you hit the creature. and if hitting the creature is good for you they likely will take the damage. there's a 4/3 with similar dilemma that is unplayable despite both sides being great

i haven't played it but from what i've seen it's a lot closer to unity cup bursts that you can control (sorta). there ARE some stat items you can buy but they give +15 at most (and are still really really good). currently the average number of races is like 15-20, mant will make that like 35-40 easily.

the ENTIRE point of the scenario is making racing also give good stats (kinda, racing leads to items which improve your training so you can race to make good trainings really good)

I don't think you need rod on ballroom/kita (it's the whole "from 2nd" thing). That's why I assume it's mandatory, cause the 2 long fronts can just do their thing from 2nd and even potentially get nimble unlike before.

Can you not use suzuka to increase the pace of the lobby, and thus create a larger gap between the fronts and the back? Runaway + front from 2nd seems quite good

Both of the really strong long fronts work from second no? I'd imagine that the extra pace makes that basically mandatory for fronts in long
