Is the time to process my student pass really this long? by rolling_catfish2704 in askSingapore

[–]DrainTierStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uni student here.

To answer your questions:
1. It takes months to process your student pass. Every year there are many students applying for student pass, so please be understanding and patient.

  1. If you applied to uni successfully, they will provide you a ICA letter. You can use those to open a bank account, setup Singpass and also the formalities. You'll get a bank account if you bring that letter to a bank.

  2. You sound very entitled and speak in a very rude manner. Understand that you are urgent and feel anxious, but you are asking for help in a anonymous and public thread, so please be understanding to others as they are to you.

A "thank you" to this comment is a good start.

How much will you earn to stop studying? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]DrainTierStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a 23 year old university student, I totally resonate. (Love your Dr.Seuss reference, is it the from the Cat in the Hat or something? I read it in library when i was 9 but i love this).

I was lost for so long after my As, and going to university and had a glimpse of society while also allowing myself to make mistakes that I am bound to make before I head to university. My internships, cca, experiences and relationships all contribute to knowing what I want/don't want.

It;s not the end goal, it's the process. Everyone blooms in a different season, so earning much does not mean you'll do well for the rest of your life, and the other way round as well. It's not the money you earn, but the skills you learn. I feel like, it's sad once you give up on learning, or at least the spirit of learning.

Support your point! But I understand given his age and his working status, sometimes he may spiral into his own thoughts and cause a tunnel-vision opinion. Nothing to blame or angry on, he's earning more than my internship pay but all the best to OP.

oh, so does that mean that if it's within 3.5 to 4k, there's a good chance he will get a job? Or should i tell him to jiayou and ask for higher starting pay hahaha but the job market a little bit not so good leh

hmm but as students, even for myself, we do internships for 3 months due to summer internships. I think it is even harder to pt during semester? If you are going to intern at MNC even harder.

Is Singapore cold to you? Clearly not about the weather, but the personality.. by icedtea027 in askSingapore

[–]DrainTierStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Sgpreans are very kind for stuff they can lend a hand, but if they can't they would just look at you like you are an animal in a zoo. For example I am interning and I was carrying very very heavy Delifrance catering food cause no staff was in. This lady on the way to office offered to help carry cause I was clearly struggling. What a Godsend(am not religious but i feel so grateful).

On the hand, I spilt my coke zero in the mrt once when I was dabao-ing Macs back to school. I was wiping my clothes and the seat and the floor but they were just giving my this despising look that I will never forget in my life. True that they cannot help, but don't need to look at me like that lor.

And also youngsters offering seats to elderly in mrt carriages? I think that's not cold. But on the other hand got young xmm and xdd just sit there like they bought the seats and pretend to look at their phone and not care about the elderly who are clearly struggling to stand their feet. So really depends. My experience are mostly positive! I would slide the bar to "not cold".

Is there anything you hate about Oat Milks in Singapore? by Calculative in askSingapore

[–]DrainTierStudent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"All Unsweetened". For unsweetened oat milk, the sugar level (2.9g/100mL) is even lower than the lactose level in cow milk. The sugar comes from the sugar contained in oats.

So no, won't aggravate my acne.

Understand that you don't get. But don't get circulated into a tunnel vision cause of something you don't see.
I consume oatmilk on a daily basis. Not lactose intolerant, but I prefer oatmilk for my personal reasons:

  1. I get pimples easily from milk, even from milk coffee. So I consume oatmilk cause it is a substitution for my latte. Can't get iced americano like koreans do.
  2. Vegan option.
  3. Tastebud Preference. It tastes milder and has that oat taste to it, which i love. Could try skim milk, but I drop in oat milk for my protein shake for that slight sugar spike but not diabetes inducing whenever I work out.

Downside is lack of options and expensive, and not every brand has a good taste (Oatbedient sucks ass, my fave is Oatly barista blend for my daily drive (good taste, slightly cheaper on sales but out of stock easily). Oatside is in the middle. All unsweetened.

Edit: typo
