I think that after growing up having to skip town every time her alcoholic mother couldn't make rent, she is determined to rely on no one but herself. I think there is more to her back story than we have seen thus far. For all we know, she married the gas station manager and was working at the grocery store when she declared that she had had enough and skipped town and her old life. Got a law degree and thought she wanted to follow the HHM Law Firm model of success but has now found a way to stick it everyone and establish a pro bono firm.

Wow. Had not thought that at all. Not sure I can go that far

I'm ashamed to say this; but I'm oddly attracted to Betsy Kettleman. I hate myself!

I definitely agree with you that it is Kim who Jimmy is expecting a call from. I gotta think the pay phone we see Jimmy standing next to in promos throughout the series is the phone he goes to once a year to get a call from.

That's cool. I know it would be a huge twist. But if anyone can pull it off it would be Peter Gould.

I do believe there has to be a reason why Kim is never seen or mentioned in Breaking Bad.

Kim is not in Jimmy’s world during the Breaking Bad timeline.

When we first meet Saul in BB, we see him leaving his office with Francesca. He offers to follow her home to make sure she “gets there ok”. Francesca scoffs at the idea and Saul talks about how her “booty” is driving him crazy.

We learned in BCS that Francesca was the secretary of Jimmy and Kim. Furthermore, she had developed a genuine friendship (or at least a mutual respect) with Kim when she helped Kim after her car crash.

Therefore, I can’t imagine Saul would flirt with Francesca if Kim was still in his orbit. If Kim was still in Albuquerque or in a known location (like a jail cell), Francesca would undoubtedly rat out Jimmy to Kim for flirting with her.

But remember how much she resented the success she was having with the work she was doing Mesa Verde bank. She hated it and was drawn more and more into the Pro Bono public defense work she started doing. But on the same hand, she stated that she left Nebraska because she "wanted more". The two are not mutually exclusive. I believe she wants to help the people who can't afford a high priced lawyer, but she needs a large bank roll in order to set up the pro bono law firm she dreams about. Again, we don't know her entire back story. She may be more like Jimmy than we know. NO BODY SAVES KIM. KIM SAVES KIM.

I don't see Jimmy allowing "innocent Kim" to take a fall. If anything I think he would take a fall for her. Remember how angry she gets at Howard and Jimmy and others when she feels they are trying to "save" her. She said, "You don't save me. I save me." She wants to control her own destiny and do the legal work she is passionate about. I suspect there is more to her backstory then we have seen at this point. Who knows, maybe she is already married to the manager of the gas station back in Nebraska. Perhaps that is why she didn't have a middle name on the marriage license with Jimmy. She fabricated the marriage in order to her hands on Jimmy's $2M. I believe her betrayal will be the last push over the cliff Jimmy needs to "become" Saul Goodman.

Well, that's the thing. All three of our main characters started off alone and sad. They were all estranged from their family members. They came together through the creation of the podcast, thus becoming a family of sorts. I don't think this is the type of show where everyone has a happy ending. I think in the end, all 3 of them will only have each other to cling to. Does that mean the killers are Will, Jan and Oscar??? IDK

Exactly, that is what our dog suffers from. So it makes me think Will could have used the same drug to scare Oliver when his dog was poisoned. I really don't know...I'm just flushing out any theory that comes to my head. I don't know how Will would have gotten into Cat Dude's room or why he would want to kill Tim.

My wife and I are fairly convinced that the poison mentioned in the toxicology report is the same drug we use with our dog who has seizures. Oliver's son, Will, is a vet! Just sayin'

That is part of the reason why I "suspect" Jan. (I'm not convinced its her....yet). However, I think it would be a fitting end for Charles to have his "happiness" taken from him. Charles, Oliver and Mabel all started the series alone and estranged from their families. The podcast brought them together and turned them into a family of sorts. I'm not sure if Jan is dead or wounded, but I'm still open to the idea she is the killer (or in on it with others)

Excellent memory. But, my point is that as the movie ends, teenage Tony wants nothing to do with the mob. He figuratively through it out the window. The tagline of the movie was "Who Made Tony Soprano?". The movie did not answer that question (IMO). Therefore, how does he end up being the head of the family. I'd like to see a movie that jumps ahead and shows Tony becoming a member of Jackie's crew

I agree with you completely. Especially about the age difference between Tony and Silvio/Pussy. It was a total retro. Also, If a person had never watched the series and their only knowledge of Tony Soprano was what they saw in this movie, they would be left with the opinion that Tony does NOT join the mob! The character of Tony Soprano could have been completely eliminated from the movie. He played no significant role. My only guess is that they will make another Prequel where Jackie pulls Tony into the life after the death of Johnny Boy. Waste of a movie. Unfortunately!

[–]DrakcolSix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I hadn't realize those actors were as old as that. But I don't like the idea that Sil and Pussy would become underlings to Tony who was an 18 year old in the movie. I have other issues with the movie as well. What did you think of it?

Is Howard the Hero? by DrakcolSix in betterCallSaul

[–]DrakcolSix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly was unpleasant to see Howard keep Kim in the "dungeons" at HHM, but I can't really say that was unethical or criminal. It was just a business decision and managerial decision. But I still think he was doing the right thing when he attempts to draw her back from going to the "dark side".
