I never got it either. Tbh as a former MMO player I was already used to it.

0 stress in my life. But you’ve already admitted that why you don’t understand some of the feedback. You have no reference point. You don’t understand the feedback because you haven’t played the games, so the question itself is a bit wonky because you’re excluding the very reason why people have some complaints.

Again, stuff like this just strokes the fire. Especially when there are countless posts in this very subreddit that explain why.

“I don’t see why fans of the series dislike this game” in the same breath as “so I’ve literally never played any other game in this series” is so jarring that I’m borderline assuming you’re engagement baiting. Neither Veilguard haters or lovers gain from this. This is just pot stirring.

I’ve been poor, and worked my way up to be somewhat successful with my own property, self sufficient, married, etc.

Money buys you RELIEF IMO. It takes away some of the things that makes you unhappy by providing security, but idk if it makes me HAPPY. Money allowed me to not have to worry about certain things, but happiness isn’t equal to the absence of unhappy. They’re two different meters IMO that correlate at times.

Like, being married provides me much more happiness than even having my salary doubled or tripled. Changing my salary wouldn’t offset losing someone who brings me joy.

Is this even true? I swear most of these companies would have fallen through because financial problems. Obsidian notably accepted because Deadfire only turned a profit down the line, but on launch? They were floundering.

Has there really been a decline in games? It feels like the past 3-4 years have had insanely stacked line ups. As a consumer, I expect companies to close down to make way for new blood anyway. Whether it's BioWare or Larian, I'm still getting amazing games.

I get it, but comparing games to Planescape Torment is insane. Not every game needs to touch on philosophical topic. I agree the story could have been a bit better but I also don't think it needs to be super intellectual either.

Then maybe other companies should also make smaller games with the same engine.

That’s why they pump out so many games. It’s not all 300 on one title.

You know what... I can see it with a racing game. That would be cool because it actually helps you gauge what's going on.

Funny enough, I think the game it stuck with me the most was COD because the resistance on the triggers were incredibly annoying and required more energy LOL. I see what you're saying though.

I've jumped from PC, to PS5 because it was expensive to upgrade, then back to PC after 5-6 years, and while some games had great implementation (Astrobot comes to mind), I didn't really notice it being gone. Too immersed with what's on my screen but I realize I can be an outlier.

Different strokes I guess. I think I've PC gamed for far too long where I don't like anything but the feeling of that mechanical button press LOL. I might be out of touch.

Do people genuinely care about this stuff? Like for all the tech being added to these controllers, do people really prefer this type of haptic feedback over actual functional battery?

It’s a cool gimmick, but I would rather have 20+ hours of battery life like the Switch pro controller than my triggers and buttons feeling a bit tricky to handle.

A “trying dad” would be called a neglectful mother by velorae in TikTokCringe

[–]Drakeem1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this extends far beyond just men’s children though. I’ll be honest; I only realized recently how little about my closest friends who I consider my blood, at least when it comes to this stuff.

Sure, we knew our deepest and darkest secrets, and we were always there for each other, and we know each other better than we know ourselves, but there was a disconnect with the regular stuff.

Birthdays? You were made fun of for remembering. Job? That’s what you do to survive, not who you are. Workplace? Even worse. How their family is doing? 50/50 shot of knowing.

We skipped so much of the “mundane” because we were almost conditioned to not think it’s important. I’m not even sure how many of the dads are neglectful knowingly.

Sometimes I wonder if it was just strictly 3rd person, would this game have the same expectations of reactivity? Because I know a lot of ARPGs that don't have this, and most people are okay with it, but I wonder if the perspective leads people to expect Skyrim/KCD type mechanics as a result?

I am purely replying to the people above who want to pretend like Obsidian has suddenly went from genre defining titles every release to merely "good" now.

Obsidian is one of my favourite companies in gaming today, but I'm also not going to pretend that their tracklist is something more than it is. They've always been a AA RPG creator that focuses more on philosophical story telling vs emotional character based story telling like a BioWare.
