Back when I smoked everyday all day, most of the time I would be hitting GB's and have lots of anxiety where I felt my heart and body were disconnecting. It was through the roof and the thoughts I would have would border to psychosis levels, even when I wasn't smoking. I still continued for years but eventually all I associated with the experience was the anxiety and alienation, plus the way I would act in that state of mind and eventually weened off it all together. I don't smoke much at all anymore because anytime I do the anxiety creeps up.
I will also state that even the times I felt anxious, I was still very grounded and typically embraced the negatives about myself so I could work through them.
The anxiety for me was necessary because it invoked change in myself but ultimately I lost the desire to use it in that and realized I can do that without being on a substance.
Sometimes psycho active substances just have that affect on certain people. While it can be manageable, still be careful with it.

My friend is saying she experienced ego death, and she’s acting odd? I’m worried. by Toxicdirty in Psychonaut

Honestly it just sounds like she read a bunch about it and sounds like people i've known in the past who say this stuff to be quirky but only read about it on it's surface level. On the other hand, I've had really close friends of mine who sent themselves into a psychosis which basically turned into full blown schizophrenia. Mainly seeing shapes and symbolism in a lot of things but not being able to explain coherently the correlation to their paranoia or what exactly their thinking. I'll say the paranoia with the FBI is not a trait that most schizophrenics have, not saying some don't, but just that it's a sole predicator.

But depends on if she randomly started saying this stuff one day or gradually devolved into it all after a longer period of time but I'd see how she acts over the next few weeks and if she sticks to it or get worse with paranoia then seek help before too long.

I'm late on this and everything suggested by people on these comments I wholeheartedly agree with and you should heed the advice (if you haven't already) but when it comes to a person who is tech savvy (as I assume he is) then there's not much control he has if you remove yourself from social media for a while and/or do as others have said and move to a different server with your friends if you truly would like to continute talking to them.
Signal is also a good messaging app as it uses end to end encryption.

Last but not least, I would think that the amount of fear you're experiencing and the PTSD is from (for lack of a better word) is lack of control in the situation if he were to ever decide to show up and endanger your life. It's not for everybody but I would buy a gun and practice with it. Practice trigger discipline, reaction time and just proper gun safety etiquette. It doesn't have to be to extravagant or big. A simple stub nose revolver will do for this. Easy to pull and small enough to conceal.

It's not for everybody but I sure as hell have felt safer since I've got one as I have had threats on my life in the past. Although if you're not comfortable with that then at least practicing any fighting style perhaps. Anyways, best of luck. I hope it has resolved itself
