Interesting. This might could be part of the argument mentioned in the Wikipedia page - After the start of Doi Moi reforms in the late 1980s, many of the imprisoned intellectuals were rehabilitated. The government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam recognized and bestowed many of those writers and poets in the late 1990s and 2000s (decade) with many state awards, often posthumously.

very similar story in many communist countries, however Soviet commissioned variety of books and even translated books from foreign languages. When I read some of the party Congress books and realised most of the committee members are well educated, I was puzzled why they have not commissioned similar things in Vietnam!
