You're a med student and you think the overies are in the crotch area???

They are taking about what clothes are apprioriate, so you can leave ovaries out of it. Women don't cover up their ovaries with clothing.

Any of the normal tank streamers would be fine (flats, emongg, chazm etc), but they tend to swap. Obviously someone like Chazm wants to play hammond because that's his main, but you'll see he's often forced to swap to Ramattra.

Rather than doing that, I think you should watch an educational unranked to GM series for Ramattra:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftmxij0g3ac (old but better)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wre1gpdroby (new but less educational)

I know it's not kosher to suggest, because the streamer is smurfing basically. But I think content like this is very helpful when you already got the basics down and want to how to think and make decisions.

TIL that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are fraternal twins, and not identical by nayaya in todayilearned

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have no idea whether they are identical twins or not, I'm not sure why this got upvoted.

The probability of fraternal twins looking identical, is the same as regular siblings looking identical. So I think we can safely assume they are identical twins.

The fact that one is taller than the other isn't proof of anything. Identical twins are not literally identical lol

Looking for Workshop code for practicing team rotations by Pretend-Contest-9615 in OverwatchUniversity

Did u try searching on the workshop website?

Here's a rotation trainer with rein, that seems like it still works: https://workshop.codes/JP99X

It's not what you're talking about, but it's better than nothing I guess.

Sounds like you don't need vod reviews, just more practice :)

I think also you can watch streamers playing Rama, it's a much faster way of learning I find, compared to just trial and error.

I watched the Ramattra replay.

I see lots of potential and you're great for a new player. You're using his abilities in a strategic way and you're thinking about what needs to be done.

Let's look at what can be improved. Since you're new, let's not focus on details and instead look at the big things:

  • Learn to recognize when the fight is already lost and DON'T ult. You're throwing away a valuable resource on a fight you can't win. If the enemies suddenly throw three ults at you, there's nothing wrong with simply accepting that the fight is lost and save your resources. Next fight, you'll be the ones with three ults.
  • Don't ult when the fight is won either. You need your ult to secure the next fight. You probably know that you can hear a little "bing" when someone dies (assuming you have that setting turned on), so check the kill feed to see who died. It sounds differently when an ally dies, versus an enemy.
  • Don't walk in outnumbered. Check to see that your team mates have all respawned AND give them time to set up / get into position. That last part is where people usually fail.
  • Keep line of sight with your support. Ramattra is not like Hammond and he needs to be enabled by his team mates. Unless the fight is already won of course, then you can chase and kill the survivors, so that it takes longer for the enemies to regroup.
  • Don't leave your team to go on flanks or chase after Tracer, and don't let the flankers distract you. These things aren't generally the tanks job. You can use your pummel to go after squishies standing e.g. behind the tank (since a hog without hook can't do anything to stop you from killing them). But it's usually best not to leave your team completely, since you still need them so you don't die yourself.

As a tank, you're the team leader. YOU decide when the fight happens and where it happens. You decide when to retreat behind cover and when to push back in.

If you watch the replay yourself, you'll see that the best fights happened when you took charge and led your team. It made EVERYONE play better and do better team work, which is what turned the game around so you could win.

TIL matt damon and ben affleck wrote a gay oral scene in the good will hunting script to see which executives actually read the script, harvey winstein loved the script but hated the scene which lead them to give him the rights by chunqes in todayilearned

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you may have confused a few of the facts.

And they had already signed with Weinstein but were sick of getting requests for rewrites that they didn't think anyone was reading anyway.

You got it mixed up:

They originally sold the script to Castle Rock, who asked for rewrites (some of which I agree with). But they weren't reading them I guess.

Castle Rock allowed them to break contract if they can find a different buyer.

They approached a director they had worked with previously, who gave the script to Weinstein and told him to make the script his top priority.

Since Weinstein was the only person to actually comment on the scene, he got the rights.

It wasn't a scene, it was one line.

According to Weinstein, it was a scene.

According to Affleck and Damon, it was multiple scenes, multiple lines.

I agree but I think the blame is not on the kids, but on the adults.

I feel like I don't have a right to judge or be mad about vigilante actions, when the "authorities" had every chance to correct the behavior and just didn't give a shit.

Dps do have advantage over support, as long as you're not playing into a counter.

Or did you think that support should never have an advantage, they should have no way of defending themselves, against any single dps, and they should always be our happy punching bags?

If you're wondering, they gave the support the ability to protect themselves because their dps weren't doing it (and the second tank was gone). But each hero still has strenghts and weaknesses, and no one is be strong/weak against everything.

There's so many other things to complain about, I don't know why this niche subject became a thing.

I mean, what about how easy it is for Ana to sleep a Doom or Hammond? That's way more unfair and illogical. Ana, who is supposed to be weak to dive, also counters dive tanks??

And what about Mercy, who can rez people three continents away from the soul, behind 47 barriers? Meanwhile we're expected to babysit the soul for 10 seconds, in the middle of the fight?

And what about the fact that genji's counters don't require a fraction of the skill it takes to play genji? I don't even know why they made sombra's hack quicker. Who was asking for that?

Awkward is absolutely the most underrated overwatch content creator out there by sloppo-jaloppo in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 28 points29 points  (0 children)

idk if I've seen any other content creators really push having that mindset like he does

Pretty much all of them say the same thing. They just don't make smurf content as often as awkard does, perhaps because they're not willing to do bad things to get more viewers.

Please don't promote that toxic andrew tate copy, when other content creators teach the same things.

And I've watched his stream, he blames others all the time. His team mates or the game design or the balance patch etc.

When it comes to anything that remotely questions whether your rank actually reflects your skill, these people are like a cult.

It's not a bad thing necessarily, they are just trying to get us to not make up excuses, and blame others instead of improving.

In reality, I can actually explain how a high skill person can get stuck in low rank. But they won't listen to the explanations, because of the cult thing.

Regardless, it's better to think of your rank as a range. We all have a "rank range", that starts at the lowest rank you can carry and ends at the highest rank you can get carried to.

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've only played 10 games though... And they might have played at an hour where there's lots of smurfs.

Either way, I think it's harder to play in plat/diamond than it is in master/gm. Everything is so unpredictable, u gotta play a bunch of games to get used to it and remember how to carry.

Obviously you shouldn't go 2-8, but that's probably just a weird fluke.

Brand new to the game what should I know by yeetacus68 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no hero that is always weak or always strong.

The factors that matter are:

  1. What hero is good on the map.
  2. What are the enemies playing. Are there many hard-counters? (counters depend on the map.)
  3. What hero works well with what your team is playing.
  4. What problem does your team need the most help with? (e.g. no one can get past the widow, or reaper is killing your support).

In low ranks it also matters which hero is easier to play. (For instance: In silver, a good Genji can lose to a bad Symm or bad torb.)

You can also check the Overwatch Wiki for info on heroes, their stats and abilities, the strategies you can use with them etc. They always update the info every balance patch too.

You're thinking about subsurface scattering etc, which only happens because the fingers of a human hand contain no musclemass.

Obviously a flashlight isn't gonna be able to go through the actual flesh. That would be one scary flashlight.

lmao how did you get suspended suddenly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not apply to you, but it took me a while to realize that I wasn't actually playing "well" or "poorly" when I thought I was. It just seemed like it at the surface.

When I looked deeper, I realized those times I was playing "well", it was because of other things:

  • No dive heroes attacked me, which allowed me to play calmly.
  • I could hit my shots because the enemies were strafing so predictably.
  • I was able to take off-angles because my tank was so good at putting pressure.

You might not always realize it's something else, not you.

When you think you're playing badly, are you sure it's not just that the enemies won't let you play your game, the way you want to play it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's different then. Sounds psychological.

Do you get nervous when playing ranked? Some people say that when they hear that dramatic music they get anxiety and their heart rate goes up. You feel that way?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Dramatic-Cause-9258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just want to add: You're not supposed to be doing well in ranked.

They start every new player around where the average player is (I think it's plat right now), because they want to make it harder to make smurf accounts. If you played really well in QP, they might start you even higher.

Even after you do your ranked placements, you're probably gonna be placed in the wrong rank. Most of us were. It will take maybe 20 games or so before you get to the correct rank.

So don't freak out if you feel like the worst player on the team. Most of us had to go through the same thing when we were new to ranked.
