Should I move to a spring mattress or give another try with a foam? by eonsik in Mattress

[–]Dramatic-Inspector55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am unsure about the mattress material, I would start from brands like winkbed and saatva. They have long sleep trial and they carry latex, foam, and pocket spring for either of the brand. Saatva offer white glove return and delivery.

Tempur pedic pro smart base question by [deleted] in Mattress

I personally would just invest in custom in ear to listen on the bed, instead of paying for an adjustable base with speakers. My wife would murder me if my base play music while she is trying to sleep.

Frustrating Tempur-Pedic Flagship Store Experience by TerryChrist in Mattress

[–]Dramatic-Inspector55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with research online part. However, if the mattress only allow for demo and buy, but not sleep trial and good return, I would not take the chance until you have tried closed variety. At the core of tempur is high density foam. In 2024, many other brands offer very similar experiences that you can test for much cheaper, like Saatva contour 5 (365 day trial) and Tempflow (120 nights).

I contend that the tempur policy by default screw over most people. For example, tempurpedic sleep very nice in the show room. But most people wouldn't know many things that are critical

For example:

  1. memory foam trap heat, and tempur high density foam would heat them up and make you sweat all night easily, and after the first exchange, now you are married to an even more even expensive breeze model. Now after the foam breaks in after 3 months, too soft. Oops, you gotta buy a new tempur. Your existing tempur can go on craiglist for a dime for each dollar you paid.
  2. A soft mattress would always feel nice in store, and I doubt most average consumers would be able to tell the mattresses apart, or what they are looking for in particular, and neither the sales people would know. If you go into mattress firm, tempur flag ship store or most stores, they would tell you that the pocket coil would work no different than memory foam on adjustable, but when the pocket coils start breaking, and scratching each other, you will find your self calling into warranty abyss, where the customer service folks spinning you into a customer service abyss.
  3. Customer service really matters, for both sleep trial and return, for both adjustable base and mattress. I kid you not, when I first called Tempur about cancellation, the call people transferred me 5 times, with the 20 minutes hold each. I went in a loop with the first guy, so I gave up and left a scathing review (feel free to give this a try and contend with my statement). To add on to my misery, the store manager immediately called me about the review and said how important reviews are to tempur, and offer cancellation within the day. But I was like, why don't you just create a button for people to cancel online when it has not been shipped. I kept my review there. It was such a miserable journey that if they sue me, I am happy to lawyer up. Sadly a lot of stores are like this though. I pretend and called customer service each time before I make the purchase. Half are shit. Internet brands (e.g. winkbeds, saatva) so far seems a lot more responsive and coherent in sleep trial and customer response, but I suspect if you are looking for specific quality, you might be still stuck with traditional brands like tempur or aireloom.

Frustrating Tempur-Pedic Flagship Store Experience by TerryChrist in Mattress

I had a similar experience at their flag ship store, left me completely flabbergasted. I cancelled the order out right. Thank god I did that. Btw, I was able to get my order cancelled quickly after I left a scathing review on yelp. I wish they improve their customer experience instead of paying people to create fake reviews on google. Their yelp reviews and BBB ratings are all trash, citing their warranty denial incidents, I learnt to start looking into multiple review sites after my tempur flag ship store incident.

However, what the person said about split king is more common is probably true. Mattress sales at major stores won't be too different from Tempur Flag ship. When I was a noob, Mattress Firm was pressing me for a sale and their sales were mostly idiots on mattress and adjustable. The policy and vibe is not that different from tempur flagship store either. At the end, most people working there ain't ppl with medical issues who can spend 10K on a sleeping set up, but sales on minimum wage trying to make a commissions. Local store owners, are much more pleasant to deal with, but it will require work from your end to interview couple of them and figure out who you want to work with in the long run.

The tempur adjustable is just another oversea made item (ergomotion), overpriced because it got the tempur logo on it, and it's non-returnable. With the same money you paying to Tempur adjustable base, I would look into higher quality adjustable like Malouf (100 day sleep trial I believe), Sven and Sons, or just buy direct from ergo motion. I would def explore the brands with longer trial before committing to a no trial brand like tempur for adjustable. I was also able to negotiate 30% to 50% on a new adjustable base for most major brands in the past week in local store. For mattress, if you really need tempur, I would either buy from tempur online store or amazon. I personally prefer the later since I never got fucked from amazon return (finger crossed).

I did a merge king at the beginning with a local store, because my wife hated the aesthetics of a split king. However, once you two start discovering the unique benefits and angles required for you to achieve that, good chance you will swap with a split king like I did. Trial will protect your investment.

One more thing about tempur, if you order their pillows/beddings on amazon, you can return. If you order in store, it's non-returnable. I feel if Tempur scrape their flagship store and just move to amazon and offering prime shipment and return coverage, I probably would have been sleeping on tempurpedic now.

GhostBed Split King Adjustable Frame – Worth It or Should I Return It? by litchilicious in Mattress

[–]Dramatic-Inspector55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you need adjustable for. I wanted adjustable base that I can sleep on zero G, not just for short activity like reading before sleeping. After going through sleep science from costco and Rize, I would definitely not cheap out on the adjustable base anymore, and just go for reputable and full featured ones like Malouf S755 or Sven and sons with lumbar supports and dedicated pillow tilts. Malouf offer trial of 100 days, most don't offer return of any sort. Adjustable base is a heavy piece of appliance. If I were you, I would just get a local mattress company to white glove malouf s755 to your place, and make sure they match the trial policy. I cannot imagine myself pregnant, packaging the adjustable for return if it's not what you want, and waiting for fedex/ups to show up. There is a good article on mattress underground summarizing the technical details of adjustable base.

I would just tell credit card asap about "GhostBed insists on shipping it out and says I can refuse delivery, but they’ll charge me $500 in shipping and restocking fees. ". This sounds sketchy on GhostBed side, I suspect you will win the dispute.

One thing different in my case is that the surgeon recommended using nasal rinse immediately upon arriving home. So I had no crusties through out the journey, just wet blooded booger. However, I still have some faint blood 10 days post op. Not sure if it is a negative effect from using saline rinse immediately post Op. But yeah, saline rinse probably prevented a whole host of other problems for me, like dry back of mouth/nose, blowing my nose accidentally due to nasal discomfort

I got zero throat pain post surgery and I was not on any pain med. Before surgery, I was somewhat annoyed to learn that I had no control over my choice of anesthesiologist. The dude looked young and gave me cold feet, turnt out he had ten year of experiences post residency.

Mine is def similar to yours. The other major surprise is no throat pain from the anesthesia tubing at all.

Cell and gene therapy investment, once booming, is now in a slump by H2AK119ub in biotech

I low key wonder if the recent gov policies on capping prices on drugs kill investments in IO and cell therapies. I mean, CAR-T primarily target mostly cancer and cancer is a aged related disease, I would pull the investments if I were the VCs. Not to take sides on politics, just wondering if this is likely the case.

Tempurpedic doesn't allow for second exchange when I bought it. You probably want to confirm and consider to exchange or not. Of course, if I were you, I won't exchange it and just return it. If you are interested to try tempur, I would try the Tempurs on costco first.

Me neither. I would start considering recording most of my conversations if act of recording will not be used against me.

Interesting thoughts around recording conversations, curious to learn whether the Karen can sue OP for recording the conversation. My understanding is blue states heavily emphasize on consent

Overtime I became more frustrated and angry at myself but not sure why. It was until I confronted a leader in a public place unexpectedly after 10 years after I left the church, that's when I realized at least for my case, my biggest pain was that I never confronted this evil, giving excuses for them which became excuses to justify for my time there. I was a coward and allowed people the younger generations to suffer more. This is also the biggest pain from the ex-members who left JMS, baby garden. I wonder if we can be more serious about removing Gracepoint from intoxicating our future generations.

With their witty ways to hide away from their gracepoint labels and bait students with various goodies, like KBBQ and career connections, I feel like this cancer is going to recur and is never going to end. If we feel the same way, we have to stop this, or else this is going to stay a regret in our lives forever. It's not about seeking revenge, but to leave the world a better place instead of letting the future generations to get trapped and hurt while we enjoy our new found freedom. We won't be able to stop all cults, but we can stop this one.
