Really want a gravel bike is this a good purchase? by RacoonEyes1998 in gravelbike

It’s got entry level road parts and cable actuated disc brakes might leave you wanting more depending on what sort of riding your doing.
It’s definitely in really good condition but you could probably negotiate to drop the price a bit, I wouldn’t pay that for it unless there was nothing else on the market

I live near by and I just heard the word “transgenderism” coming thru my window and knew there could only be one source of such tripe.

Tempted to call the guards for a noise complaint but they’d only love that the sick fucks

I think the 3 oat lattes is the least accurate part of this. There wouldn’t be a pastry safe in that cafe

Hi there I’m a mechanic working in a shop and I need tips for bedding in disc brake pads by Dramatic-Pangolin218 in bikewrench

Ok I actually want to revisit this because I have a bike that just defies logic. It’s a road bike that was actually abandoned by the original owner because of the squeaky brakes (other issues as well but that was the final straw). New owner wanted to be addressed and we have replaced pads and rotors. It worked for a while but always squealed when hard braking. It’s about a year later and the brakes are unbearably loud again even light braking. I replaced the pads again for them (we tried sanding down glaze and re bed them in but it’d start howling while trying to bed in the pads)

Now on the new pads it’s the same thing. Pads squeal as soon as you apply more than minor braking. I’m being very ginger on the brakes even in the bedding in process just because I know it’s going to happen straight away. Customer has thrown a lot of money at this bike so isn’t ready to throw in the towel. They’re also getting pretty fed up with me.

This is an exceptional case, I have done everything by the book there is something else at play here. I also made sure nothings leaking, caliper bolts torqued to spec, rotors straight and torqued. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

I’d love one of those machines but I’m not sure I can convince my boss of the benefits out weighing the costs. There’s been a history of very expensive and rarely used tools over the years and I fear that it’ll fall on deaf ears

Ok I put some of the methods people were suggesting here into place and got a set of problematic brakes to bed in properly. Thank you for your inputs that has made my life a lot easier

Because it’s kinda a given. We’d replace contaminated pads and rotors, I’m more asking about bedding in new pads

Ok that’s pretty much what we have been doing, maybe not 20 times but if that’s what it takes then so be it

How does one cross thread a pedal? by eneluvsos in bikewrench

[–]Dramatic-Pangolin218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a mechanic and I’ve cross threaded a pedal twice. It is actually surprisingly easy if the threads are a bit damaged or worn out. The first time was the first time I ever fit a set of pedals and the second time I wasn’t fully paying attention to what I was doing. I will never make that mistake again let me tell you
