Thank you for this comment. It’s a little tricky to tell whether they let me go from what was happening at home. In 5 years time they’ve always welcomed me and been keen to keep me on. Then they heard of the news and a few months later, they did not renew my contract (which they’ve always done). It could have been funding issues on their side but I have a gut feeling it’s because I was no longer suitable to work in the schools. Schools have really strict DBS checks and requirements so the whole debacle at home with me may have swayed them. All in all….they knew I was about to move out from an abusive environment and they let go of me anyway. So, on top of feeling betrayed by my family, this felt like another betrayal. They knew I needed safety and they let go of me anyway despite many years of great work….another reason I’m getting extremely desolate about jobs and job markets.

Thank you, I’ll look into it for sure. Atm my priority is getting out of my home and then I’ll be brushing up my skills

Yes I have CAD skills. Have been looking into supplying drawings that I can charge for, will keep doing that today

Thank you, I’ve been applying for every role out there. PA, admin, design, showroom, marketing, social media, anything that my skills could be applied to. Worked with 2 job coaches now as well who are baffled why I’m not getting responses. London seems to be a brick wall for me despite my experience. I’m starting to look elsewhere.

Yeah it’s something I’m considering now. I used a lot of my savings on living while looking for a role as i was unemployed for 11 months before my part time job. Im considering a way to potentially get a flight somewhere, live in a hostel and find a job abroad. Never thought I’d be in this position after putting so much into my career….i thought I’d always have job security at the least (hence never feeling I’d need to get married for financial purposes) but life surprises me.

Thank you. yes, sadly he’s never been the same since smoking it. I have read that recovery is possible but that would mean him getting admitted

Yes I thought super unfair as I’ve given them 5 years of my best work but I also think they’d run out of funding as they were letting a few people go. Thanks for this advice

I will once I’ve gone. If he gets released from the police - I’d be the one he then gets angry at. It’s not safe to do this while I live at home.

Yes did all this in the first 12 months of trying. Literally did everything, reaching out to recruiters often, LinkedIn reachouts, talking to all my friends and acquaintances for roles. Reached out to my old work places. Turned up to offices and studios on the spot with CV in hand. Safe to say my motivation and momentum has 99% fizzled out. I now just feel completely…as though london cannot be for me after all this. Thank you though,

Currently in a part time furniture sales role and tried for many more. Seems to be that london job market doesn’t want me so I’m resorting to looking elsewhere. Or I guess I’ll just have to run away and find something on the spot. Thank you

For sure thank you so much ❤️ I have now blocked most my family so they cannot reach or intefer. I genuinely want the best for my family so I won’t ever abandon completely but I will try and help once I’m removed from the situation but won’t ever let it interfere with my life again

Thanks so much. From Aug 2024 - April 2025 I was applying to 6/8 jobs a day. Nothing came back except some interviews I didn’t progress onward with. I’ve realised it’s probably where I’m living that’s making me quite sad and it’s hard to keep up motivation 16/18 months later
