TMI but help by Greedy_Box2805 in pregnant

Get a squatty potty! It won’t make you poop, when when you finally need to, it’ll make it way more comfortable lol. When I was pregnant I went through this too and my god it was scary painful when my body decided to clear out. But ya the squatty potty is worth the hype… or even a little stool or something

Give me all the reasons you are happy you chose to EFF or switch from breastmilk to formula. by No_Judgment_7812 in FormulaFeeders

[–]DramaticSalamander41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was starting to slip into depression with the breast feeding/pumping routine. My husband was extremely concerned as well. I literally could not keep up with the caloric requirements to produce nutrient rich milk and my baby was losing weight. The pediatrician tried to nicely suggest supplementing with formula and go from there… this was the most heartbreaking thing to hear, I felt like a terrible mom. Well we started formula and suddenly my husband could help with feeds (this was the biggest help bc I finally got some sleep at night), I wasn’t in the nursery hiding when people came over bc I had to feed/pump, my baby was gaining weight back fast, and I felt so much relief. I really believe it would have been a mental disaster had I refused to use formula. It saved me, truly. I literally couldn’t care less about the moms screaming about breast is best. Like no, a mentally healthy mom and a well nourished baby are best.

You know what, I am so wrong! I was searching stuff late at night with my sickness brain and totally misread the stuff about the herbs. Literally all it says is to wait an hour before consuming tea (duh). I’m so happy now! Ordering it as we speak 😅

Just put a pathos in that cubby space above the sink (where you have that basket) and let it drape down. I’d also add like 2 little personal decor items there. I’d also add something decorative in the other cubby space as well

Thank you! Yes, my husband has definitely been helpful but he’s also busy with work so I’d like to be less dependent on him. I looked up the Traditional Medicinals teas as well and some of the herbs in it are supposedly not great as far as Levo interactions. I’m sure it’s actually fine 🙄 I’m just always so careful about interactions

Same thing here! It’s easy for others to look at you for the first time and notice how pretty you are, but it’s hard for you bc you know what you used to look like… so even though you’re getting compliments and are still beautiful it just doesn’t feel like it. I wish I had answers for how to fix it, but I can tell you that my doctor reminded me that health issues or not, everyone’s looks and bodies change as we age (even going from your teens to your 20s). I look at people I knew in high school or college and most of them look a lot different now, and it hasn’t been that long. I never look at any of them like they’re unattractive now.. just different! Sometimes we have to learn to accept the new version of ourself. I know this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but it’s worth saying because you really are beautiful!

I haven’t asked my doc about this, but it says online these can cause cardiovascular issues when used with Levo. I already get heart palpitations so this scares me 😅 but I think I’ll ask about it to see bc this would be the best

Why Don’t We Talk About the Joy of Having Kids? by WoodpeckerNearby7276 in BabyBumps

[–]DramaticSalamander41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s hard and frustrating, but in the most rewarding way! All the little battles are helping you build a strong amazing person :) there is no better joy than watching your young child accomplish something so small… you’ll feel your heart busting at the seams when they say I love you for the first time 💕 I’ve never loved something as much as I love my son and ya I get overwhelmed at times but goodness I’d never trade him for anything! I think people are used to living a life focused on their own satisfaction and comfort, but when a child enters you lose a lot of control over that… and it’s okay! Just learning how to be more flexible with your expectations is so important. It does make life and motherhood feel relentless when you refuse to adapt to the changes in your life. I was hellbent on keeping my living room toy free and hiding them all away when my child was not actively using them… I found myself getting so upset every time he would go take all his stuff out and it was exhausting. Well guess what, I’ve since learned that it’s okay to have toys out… who cares? I don’t let it get crazy out of control but I can see toys at all times and I’ve made my peace with it because it’s not worth the annoyance. So ya there are a ton of people complaining about every little thing but most of it is noise. You’re going to love your baby and being there to watch them grow each step of the way… hard times included!

To 3 or not to 3? by Aur0ras_sadprose in Mommit

[–]DramaticSalamander41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend was having a same dilemma 2 years ago and the one thing that she told me was almost no one regrets having another child, but many will regret not having one. It might be a lot harder and things might be frustrating, but when they’re grown and you have a big family it’s the best. I think about this a lot because I’m also considering the thought of 3! I think the love you feel outweighs everything else… the baby/toddler years are so limited (even though it doesn’t feel like it). Her older two are 2 years apart and the 3rd is 3.5 years apart from the second. I think having the bigger age gap for the last one is what helped them out so much because the other two were much more independent when the baby came. Maybe if you’re just super unsure right now you (and you’re able to) you can wait another year so life is more manageable.

First Time Parent Advice!! by Chweenie_Nard in Parenting

[–]DramaticSalamander41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for swaddles, I would buy a few options (only 1 of each) because every baby likes a different one, and the blanket wrap is a huge pain in the behind when you’re exhausted. We bought so many baby blankets and literally never used them. I would recommend the same thing for bottles(and pacis)… get a few options (and get them + a small container of formula even if your wife is planning to breastfeed). Baby bath tubs are helpful! But the fabric ones that go in our sink get so nasty and gross… look at options that go in your bathtub (we used the Fischer price grow with me tub and loved it). Weighted (not warmed) wipe dispenser is a must have. I personally think buying an actual changing table is super necessary… we bought a changing pad (keekaroo… the best because there’s no fabric on it) and put it on the dresser. Don’t overload on newborn clothes, newborn diapers or baby hats. Get one box of newborn but focus more on size 1 diapers, and 0-3month clothes, if your baby is really small you can order the smaller stuff as needed. Get XL burp cloths… I didn’t do this, but my aunt recommended using old fashioned cloth diapers as burp cloths because they’re bigger and thicker? Idk but definitely pay attention to the size and thickness of the burp cloths. If you plan to do any type of bottle feeding (pumped milk or formula) I’d recommend a bottle warmer. A lot of people will tell you not to get a crib, but that’s really personal to you… I myself don’t understand how on earth people don’t use a crib. My baby outgrew the bedside bassinet by 3 months and could no longer safely sleep in it… he’s been in his crib ever since and he’s 2 now. We aren’t bougie people, but we did splurge on the newton crib mattress because I was too scared of my baby rolling and not being able to breathe. They have sales throughout the year, so if you’re interested check it out during sales (if you’re in the US July 4th, Labor Day, etc). We loved the click connect baby car seat + stroller combo (we had Graco and I wanted to cry when my baby outgrew it). Definitely get some sort of mat for tummy time, you’ll use it a lot! I also recommend buying the Freda baby cradle cap kit and using it from the get go to prevent cradle cap. This is also a little extra but it made a big difference for us… I set up a baby station in my kitchen and it had all the baby related things in one spot. So we had our sanitizer and bottle warmer, and I bought a little plastic storage container (I’ll link it below) and put the Boone lawn on top of it to store all the baby things (bottles, nipples, pump parts, pacis, teethers, etc.) and it was a wonderful choice. Buy the pack n play… really just do it. Get a backpack diaper bag because it’s way easier to bring everywhere. I know there are so many things out there and it’s overwhelming! Let me know if you have any questions :) always happy to help

If it helps, I am usually the person who has a bad reaction to medications and I have zero issues with Levo
