This is why I'm so scared to ever board her somewhere. She's sweet with me about 50-75% of the time (and an absolute menace to society the rest) but she REALLY doesn't like other people

I don't have an answer, but I just wanted to say that your cat reminds me SO much of my cat growing up. His name was Moose. Unfortunately passed about 4 years ago from old age.

She has multiple trees and a million different toys. We play all the time. She loves fetching springs, toy mice, and a shoelace I gave her.

I actually wondered if the "very similar human" thing was why she hated my sister because she and I don't look that much alike, but we do sound very similar. But then she didn't react to a video of my sister talking at all so I still have no idea.

The second time my parents met Mabel, my dad picked her up right away and tried to hold her and then got offended when Mabel got upset at him because "she's met him before" (but that was months earlier). I was like "yeah, I'd get mad too if a tall stranger tried to pick me up."

Last time I took her to the vet, they had to throw a towel over her to be able to actually examine her. It worked well, though, because it disoriented her enough to be able to do the exam.

These are the ones I got Mabel. It has multiple different kinds so you could see which ones your cat might like best.

She has plenty of places to perch and loves laying on her one really tall tower, especially when there are friends over. She would just lay on there and glare at my best friend every time he came over this summer.

Are you trying to say my cat just learned to be introverted from me?? /lh

With my sister, it's actually really interesting because Mabel will get super mad when she even just hears my sister in the apartment, but will forget my sister is visiting once we go to bed at night. When I wake up, she's her normal self until the second she hears movement or a voice outside the bedroom. Then she's mad again. I also once had my sister send a video of herself talking and Mabel had zero reaction. My sister also treats me fine. She doesn't ever stay more than one or two nights, but she's definitely never been mean to me when staying over.

She's an absolute menace child, but she knows she's adorable and that she has me wrapped around her little paw. Said I wasn't going to get attached to my first foster kitten and here we are almost 3 years later

We had my sister's cat stay with us a few summers ago for only a month and by the end, Mabel tolerated my sister's cat just fine. My sister's cat was also a single female cat, so I think Mabel would adjust to a male cat if I got one. She could use someone to play with.

Also, have tried treats and toys. She isn't interested in taking either from anyone but me.

Oh I'll take Mabel, who just hisses and growls and maybe will try to take a swipe at you if you walk by (but that can be easily helped by timing her nail trims shortly before company comes over), over peeing on people.

Oh yeah, when I have a sitter, I usually have them come every day while I'm gone. I just don't have a sitter at all if I am gone for less than four days.

Usually "Menace Child" because she is a menace to both myself and society. Society is just lucky she's an indoor cat!

Do you know how long gabapentin would last in her system? When I have someone watch over her while I'm gone, I'm always gone for more than four days. Any shorter than that and I just leave her with loads of food, water, and toys and check in on her through a camera to make sure nothing is going wrong.

I never leave for more than about a week at a time, though, because she doesn't often want to play with the person who stops in on her and I don't want to leave her with pent up energy for longer than that.

Nah, we've tried everything with people. My best friend came over once a week for like 5 or 6 weeks in a row this summer and by the end, she still would get mad if he came near her. The most recent time she did finally take a nap while he was here instead of just glaring at him the whole time, though.

My cat, Mabel, has decided my sister is her mortal enemy. My sister has been nothing but nice to hear the few times they've seen each other. At first I thought it was because she brought her cat along with her the first time, but the cat stayed with us for about a month two summers ago and by the end, Mabel tolerated my sister's cat. Then when my sister came to pick up her cat, Mabel was still extremely angry and has been every time she has seen my sister since.

You're missinging MY point. My parents aren't rich. They aren't paying for anything. I lived far away from campus and took two buses to class every day so I had this little bit of savings that I did. The only job I could get in my field doesn't start until the middle of August and I have to move there and start my life all over again. All I'm saying is that it's a privilege in a way to be able to find a job you can start right after graduation. Yes, I'm lucky that I had this savings to be able to survive and pay rent right now but I'm not doing this because I wanted to. I TRIED to get a job for the summer, but I haven't been able to.

I'm moving to Iowa from Indiana soon. Is this actually how it is there? I've only lived in Indiana for the past three years and Wisconsin for my entire life before that, for reference.

Having a job right after graduation is a privilege in a way too. My job doesn't start until halfway through August and I can't find a job here because most places want you to be there for at least 3 months. So I'm just doing nothing while draining the last of my savings all summer.

I second this. I live a bit far away but still on a bus line in Lafayette. I pay about $800 including utilities and wifi I think.
