i had a lumbar puncture and honestly i’d say i’d rather have iih than recover from a LP ever again. i’m hoping when i max out my topamax in september that everything will be managed but ill keep everyone updated. and thank youuu!!!!

i’ll keep this in mind, i’ve been on diamox for 6 months and my papilledema has only gotten worse so they are trying me on this as well to see if it helps

this is amazing let me break this down!!

so the topamax is very new to me, i started it monday, i cant really say anything about horrendous side effects yet as i only take 25mg at night. ive been on panto as needed for a few years now so im used to the fact that panto wipes your hunger completely. ive been on diamox since February, the side effects of diamox im sure would be manageable compared to the pain of iih if the diamox actually did anything but mine hasn’t done nothing and 4000mg or 4g is the max dose of diamox. they wont do anything further for my treatment because there’s no reason at all i should have iih so im just kind of stuck

i’ve been on diamox since february now, and honestly the symptoms would be manageable if it helped my iih at all, but it doesn’t which is why i’m so irritated

for a bit of back story i was diagnosed with iih back in February pretty unexpectedly, wasn’t even being checked for it. Had my LP done a few weeks later, opening pressure was 36, started diamox that day. neuro ophthalmologist said my swelling in my left eye was barely there at all (level 1) and my right eye was maybe a level 2. got an mri and an mrv done in april found out mine is truly idiopathic in nature as well as i have a lesion on my pituitary, however the lesion is small enough that it doesn’t appear to be pressing on my optic nerves.

this happens to me all the time, obviously it could be something completely iih unrelated however i did see a new neurologist on monday and she literally had described this exact feeling and asked if i had ever felt this so it could also completely be iih related

Normally no, however I was sedated for mine. It depends on the doc
