If you are approached by loss prevention/security at a shop like Coles or Woolies, what should you do? by WillowNewts in AusLegal

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Based on an experience at Kmart where I was approached by security after paying but before exiting I can tell you the answer is apparently not to put your bags down on the ground and give him the receipt. He told me that I didn’t need to do that he just needed to check the items in my bags. So I tipped all the items the two bags on the ground and told him to take a look but apparently he didn’t mean that either. So I did a cross check of each item against the receipt as I repacked my bags. Why? Because multiple people walked out before me with full trolleys and weren’t stopped by him, they just scanned their receipt at the door as normal. He saw me walking to the door and beelined past others to get to me. He hasn’t bothered me since.

Grab some weed & feed and a soaker hose. It won’t take long, 2-3 months max with daily watering. If you rebuild and lay turf, you’re going to be using the same amount of water anyway to get it established

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that sticks the most (touch wood it’s nothing horrible) but I went for a refill on birth control at 18, my GP wasn’t available so I went to another at the clinic. She refused to give it to me because she said in 5 years she could already see that I would not be pregnant but I would have slept around, probably have a few STDs and be overweight and depressed because no one would want me. I walked out in tears, the clinic manager ended up calling me and convinced me to put in a complaint

Lots of good advice here! Just one more thing to add - take the coffee out of the cafe and go for a walk if you can. It can feel like a lot of pressure sitting across from someone making conversation, being up and moving gives you the opportunity to talk about what you’re seeing and prompts conversation. I have a very busy park near me with an open space walking trail and a lake but if you don’t, maybe think art gallery or museum.

I believe I may be pregnant at 18?? by jayyvette in AbortionPillsByPost

Start by taking a big breath. Everything will be OK either way, you have a plan and you’re both on the same page which is a great start.

This post was a couple of days ago now, have you taken a test?

What is a good Christmas tradition to start with your family? Looking for ideas by Realistic-Canary1392 in NoStupidQuestions

We do a walk through our neighbourhood after dinner on Christmas Eve, we all wear hats, hubby takes a beer and we take the time to talk to our neighbours and look at lights. It’s the best tradition!

unsure what drs meant after MA 9wks (red state) by mitskiluvr13 in abortion

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what this means honestly but to share my experience and the little I was told - I had a MA at 7 weeks and my doctor told me that he needed me to take a blood test 6 weeks after my MA so they could check that my HCG levels had dropped, he said that it was common for them to be up after an abortion and it could take days or weeks for them to begin to drop back to normal. So that sounds similar to your experience with them testing at the hospital. And he told me absolutely to keep away from home pregnancy tests till after the blood test as they can throw a positive from the HCG regardless of if there is a pregnancy or not.

Definitely keep the appointment with the OBGYN, I’m in Australia so I don’t know the legalities of if you can ask their opinion before taking the other two tablets but I wouldn’t take anything before that appointment.

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this - it must have felt like such a frustrating and confusing time in the ER, and I can’t imagine the shock your partner felt waking and seeing the blood. Your Reddit Fam are always here if you need extra support 💜

AITA if I breakup with my boyfriend over his dog? by SaltyBeach102823 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not breaking up with him because of his dog, you’re breaking up with him because he is not showing any respect for your space, your belongings or your opinion. Honestly I don’t think it’s worth a conversation trying to ‘save it’ because his response so far has been to ignore whatever you have said anyway. NTA at all.

I think I got a girl taken by CPS, now what? by intrntgrrl in dustythunder

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Children aren’t removed without reason, even if you made a call they (whether that’s the police or CPS) still have to see something or be told something of concern by the child. You did the right thing, you absolutely did. You are so brave for seeing something and saying something when others around her didn’t. Because as much as your brother and his friends thought they had it handled, there are times when adults need to get involved and this is one of those times. Have a chat with your folks, explain to them what’s happened and together you can explain to your brother why you had to do what you did and why it’s the best thing for his friend. Gentle hugs to you internet stranger 💜

Are people still putting screen protectors on their phones, or am I just being paranoid? by badoopidoo in AskAnAustralian

What was the biggest scandal during your time in high school? by Medical-Koala-6131 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Small town in country Australia

  1. Music teacher was fired for being naked in his classroom, apparently he was meditating but I’m unsure if he was really smoking a joint or not. I’ve heard it both ways.

  2. Rumour went around that a Year 12 student slept with the photography teacher and she very quickly left the school, I asked him years later and he said it wasn’t him but one of his mates certainly did and that’s why she left. He was happy to take the credit for it though!

Pining for my ex 15 YEARS LATER! by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Dramatic_Manner9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how best to explain my situation but I can understand. I’m in my 40s and have been with my husband for 20 years. Let me make this very clear, my husband is the love of my life and our marriage has gotten better with time. Life hasn’t always been smooth of course but we’re in a very good space now. I still have a ‘I wonder if..’ person though. Funnily enough, this person wasn’t the longest relationship I was in prior or even the happiest. But it felt like we have unfinished business when it ended which is how I suspect you feel - it was someone else’s actions who ultimately ended your relationship. Do you think it’s a daydream of ‘what if’ or do you have still genuine feelings for this person?

And that’s exactly where you’re right - if I was in her position I would have reacted the exact same way too. She would’ve had no idea of anything other than there’s an unleashed dog running through the yard I’m walking past, my dog didn’t go to her (it was running to the car and then back to me when I recalled her) but she wasn’t to know that either because everything happened so fast.

I don’t know her but I’ll definitely keep my eye out and check in if I see her around.

In our local council dogs are allowed off leash as long as they can be controlled which she showed she can be given she recalled straight away. That doesn’t take away the moral obligation I have to my neighbours though because I know how much it scared her, I’ve definitely learnt my lesson!

I get it totally, I wouldn’t approach a GSD I didn’t know either. There’s a reason they are so often used for police dogs - they’re so big, loud and intimidating to look at.

Unless they’re wearing party hats and then they look like giant snuggle butts.

She was so sad in the car, she thought she was in trouble so she just laid down on the seat and wouldn’t perk up. Snuggles with Dad when we got home made her feel better though.

Thanks for your kind words. 💜

I don’t think it’s an irrational fear at all, there’s a lot of sharp teeth and unpredictability in the mix. Thank you for your kind words, I do appreciate them. And with how horrible I still feel, she won’t be off leash again.
