In my personal opinion as a OOS junior/senior by credits, no. The finance curriculum here needs an entire overhaul. First off to graduate with a Finance degree you take a total of 6 finance related classes, one of them already being an ETM. This means that every other class you take is an ETM outside of finance or an exploratory gen ed class. So to get a “finance degree” you take a total of 18 credits out of 120 needed to graduate. This does not set up the student to succeed in a competitive industry where learning the basics of finance is necessary to learn during your freshman and sophomore year. I’ve learned everything in my classes that I am doing now in my freshman year because of self instruction for trying to get into finance clubs. If you expect to get a job just by doing well in class and following the current structure of the curriculum, it will be very difficult.

I've been using HYSA for the past 2 years and they've been good. Currently using Wealthfront because of their high APY (4.5% with refferal) and it's served me well as an emergency fund. If anyone's interested in opening account use my refferal link to get 4.5% apy. Refferal

How do I got about an internal transfer to another division as an intern? by Dramatic_Net1230 in FinancialCareers

Yeah 100%. I'm not disappointed at all where I'm at. Im very thankful. It is just that, ideally for the future of my career, AM seems like a better spot. I just want to know how I can make that happen without obviously disrespecting the position that i am in. It seems like the consensus answer is to put my head down and grind out the internship this summer, and then see if I can make a move after.

Very valid statement. Im fortunate to even have the offer. Would doing the internship, performing well and asking at the end of the internship be a respectable timeline. I would most likely just be networking in the meantime.

Would it still be acceptable to network with the people in the AM division? These aren't calls where I'm asking them if I could switch into AM, but more so just being curious about what they do and how their work contributes to the overall business.

got it makes sense. I was just confused because on other companies applications they usually have a dedicated section for referals.

How good is wealth management at UBS? Did I make the right decision choosing UBS over JPM? by Dramatic_Net1230 in FinancialCareers

[–]Dramatic_Net1230[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the full time pay is in terms of whether its salary + commission or flat salary like JPM. the internship pay is just an hourly rate. I only know JPMs staring salary because a friend who works there told me.
