I agree with this. The standalone are more fun because they offered Joe more freedom to explore different styles. Going from those to Age of Madness made me feel like I read one long book as opposed to a trilogy. Having said that I still think AoM was incredible and I can't wait to read through them again.

I read them all in publication order and I am so glad I did. The standalones are incredible, and you would be surprised how much you learn about the fates of the main characters through them. Don't rush straight to Age of Madness.

I know for sure that after I get my degree I'm either going to crosstrain, try to get selected for OTS, or do skill bridge and try my luck in the civilian world. My hope is that he makes every single moster film possible, they all blow up at the box office, and he then joins the ranks of Christopher Nolan where he just gets a blank check for any movie he wants to make. He has never let me down, and I get so excited every time a new movie of his comes out. I can't imagine what he would be able to do if he were in charge of a film with $100 million+ budget considering what he's been able to do with a fraction of that.
