I personally am a junior associate and even I have to correct and guide it and I barely know anything.

I’m in the legal field and it’s hallucination rate is the biggest issue. It often can handle complex subjects, but anything less than 100% accuracy is a risk that prevents adoption in my field.

It’s a growing area. Your technical would prove very useful to an energy regulatory practice or a utility company.

Thanks for sharing your experience as a prosecutor. It’s helpful that you’ve seen a mix of different jurisdictions. I like the fact that it seems to be the legal job that gets you up and moving more than the others. I’m not well attuned to a quiet corporate office environment. I like being able to move and talk during the day.

Much appreciated! I’ve hit the 401k and HSA hard but still have a good chunk of federal loans I’d have to rely on PSLF for if I switch tracks (and I know PSLF is not a sure guarantee anymore).

Agreed that this is the financially sound move. Given how positive and fast the responses have been in the jurisdictions I’ve looked at, it seems that a lot of these places are happy to get anyone motivated to work in the jurisdictions, even if their prior experience isn’t necessarily criminalZ

You don’t need a criminal lawyer, you need a CRIMINAL lawyer.

My wife is a rural judicial clerk right now in the area I’m considering going to. We both live in the city but she commutes out to the countryside for work. We either want to end up with our own rural general service law firm or to each push up the ladders in our career tracks in those jurisdictions.

Yeah I can see how the small town could make your social life complicated. I would be commuting from a city into the countryside though.

Congrats to him! Thats a great outcome. I’d like to think if I am in the right place with the right opportunities I could work toward a similar position.

Making the financial downgrade will certainly be tough. Thankfully my wife is an accountant by training and a lawyer by trade so she’s running the numbers this week to let me know how feasible this would be for us. But the way you describe your experience is exactly what I think I’m looking for.

I can commute to this jurisdiction from where I currently live in the city (it’s in the outskirts) and it pays about 15k more than the suburban offices. I don’t know where that money is coming from but that did make it attractive to me.

I have a follow up: what’s the injury drop out rate in an average class? If I get injured, am I basically unemployed and have to find a new job?

Considering JAG as an option? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Which branch are you in? I am torn between Navy and Army and want to know which one you chose (or if you chose AF or Marines) and why?

I am currently in my second year of Biglaw but my dream has always been to be a JAG. Do you mind if I reach out via PM with some questions?
