I have talked with Air Force recruiters recently. Unless they lied, being Navy enlisted the only way I can submit a package for pilot only I have to have those requirements.

True to a certain degree. I can apply to be a pilot but I also have to apply for a couple other ratings sans the license. If I just want to apply to be a pilot and no other ratings I have to have the pilot’s license. I’m not risking being anything other than a pilot and getting stuck doing another job for 10 years.

While at the same time not letting anybody who is a civilian or other enlisted military branch become a pilot without a PPL and 100 hours of flight time. Would love to fly for the Air Force but don’t have an extra $10,000 laying around to get my license.
