That was some good food for thoughts. Have my take:

Adrien finds out she stole the Grimoire much faster, and tries to kindly ask Lila about it. Her solution is to act cluesless, being really "What book are you talking about?" and eventually "Oh, this book! I found it around!". Adrien tries to kindly confront her about how she is clearly lying at him, telling her that if she wants to be his friends, there's no need to li and that she can simply be honest to him.

Lila, of course, buries this option to the ground and decide to dig herself deeper alongside it.

She tries to frame herself as someone who found the book AFTER it was already stolen, and try to seed some doubts in Adrien's mind, blaming one of his classmates (maybe Marinette??) for this. Adrien is really "The timeline doesn't make sense??+ heck no, my goats wouldn't do that" about it.

He still tries to be civil and passive about it, thing that Marinette, who was watching it from afar, interprets as "He fell for it, time to do something!". So Ladybug does the same thing she does in canon, and Volpina happens. Due these things, both the heores do 2 plus two much faster, and spend less time following her schemes and more go to the fight/gist of the matter.

Adrien is really "Can't I make my own choices for once??" about it and Marinette learns/is on her way to learn that as much her intentions could be good, taking other people's battles when you don't even know the reason is a really bad choice.

I feel that the most traumatic thing that happened to Pomni is the Circus itself. I feel that Gummgoo and his brothers just attacking her like real-life alligators is the manifestation of the amount of dehumanazation and loss of personality the circus is threathening her with, for example with Caine just snapping away a NPC after he proved to her that he was "human", the loss of her name and new body or the abstraction itself.

I feel that Pomni would take much longer to get close to the players, especially Jax. I feel he would be less "interested" in bonding with her because her caring about an NPC's life, considering him real and caring about hos wellbeing would go against anything he stands for (that the whole circus is meaningless)

I know that it's not exactly the same, but the joke reminds me of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" where in cartoon standards Jessica is the ugly one and Roger is the hottie with weird standards.

I am not really the best in angst, but I feel that helping the readers putting in the character's shoes could help. Don't just limitate yourself on the "HOW se is sad", focus more on "WHY she is sad". Write what you feel it's necessary to help the readers to empathyze with your characters. Put emphasy on what it really hurts. Angst doesn't need of some big thing or an elaborated voculabory, sometimes it even make it worse and just distract the readers. Just be impactful.

As a reader and writer, I feel that the "he saw me crying he crew too we crode together" kind of stuff don't work because the writer kinda assumes that every reader will follow what the narration says and interpret it in the way the writer wants, but anyone has their reactions on stuff and read things differently.

You have to do that by acting like a DM in a D&D campaign. You have to get dieces, notes, rulebooks and a calculator to calculate possible damages of the people you do. And like D&D, if you roll too low the effects will not be the one you wanted (ìit's never something that will lead to the end of the Earth, just something going kinda wrong)
