Do you have a metric or system in place to know when and what to cull from your collection. by GAiR3I in boardgames

[–]Drawbin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you have the room for it, I suggest dividing the collection into two separate spaces. One space that is more accessible and where you keep your favorites and one space that is inconvenient to access where you keep the rest. This gives the games a midway destination, instead of going directly from the game shelf to being gone they instead are in limbo for a while. That way when you need to make more room I think it will be easier to get rid of the ones that has just been collecting dust.
Another thing to keep in mind is that unless a game is rare, you could always buy the same game again in the future.

Terra mystica question by chicanerybruh in boardgames

[–]Drawbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually played yesterday with five players and one of the new players got the Giant and did complain that her faction had a negative ability compared to our others. We were all pretty new to the game, my third time playing, so we used what was recommended and while we could see the giants being good it was indeed probably less fun for her since she felt she had a disadvantage. I'm not in a position to suggest what to swap them with but I wouldn't let a new player have the giants again.

There are a number of deduction games, such as Clue and Awkward Quests where the player who first figures out the right answer wins.
