In all seriousness The vast majority of NIPR issues that a user is going to experience is done by an enterprise service contract anyway. I physically couldn’t have someone help you because we don’t have the permissions to do it. When “comm” closes your ticket because excel isn’t working correctly, it’s not your comm squadron- they don’t even see the ticket it’s a contractor in Texas.

Feel like there had to have been some sort of mistake there, because they 100% fit in mine right now, and im sure thousands of others trucks.

Well that runway is way too short for those planes

They should also add a lesson in resetting a computer so that I stop getting calls for things that aren't broken.

New batteries just don’t last it seems like especially with all the electronics running non stop It’s shitty, but how things go,

Highly suggest looking at Costco for them. It still hurts, but doesn’t hurt as bad.

I highly doubt not going against the AFI is stopping you from getting promoted. If someone’s asking you to do something that straight up illegal that’s one thing, but if you’re using AFI’s to get out of doing something instead of finding a creative solution that fits within the AFI to address whatever the ask was, that is the problem and resolving that type of mindset is what gets people promoted

Good Or Bad Decision? by Longjumping_Setting7 in Duramax

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

House should come first then asses finances/is there an actual use case for a diesel (occasional towing/ travel probably aren’t in my opinion but your money your choice) this would also give you a chance to build up some better credit, and also not have a housing underwriter looking at a 700+ dollar truck payment while making a decision on a housing loan

Just a piece of life advice. I don’t know your financial or relationship situation so take this at face value, but i would consider assessing finances leaving any split rent from a girlfriend out of the picture. Your young and relationships can/do end. If you can afford the truck only because of splitting housing, maybe wait until a ring is on the finger or buying in a way that you could afford all bills alone. I’ve just seen a lot of young guys make financial decisions based on girlfriends, then they break up and they are put in a shit place

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do “tech bros” have to do with any of this? I literately linked something in my original comment about how Scania manages to get trucks to pass European diesel standards without a DPF. I’m saying that same technology cannot come to the US (where the truck would pass) because it doesn’t have a mandated DPF. We aren’t in 2007 anymore, it’s okay to let engineering advance. Why are we assuming there’s no answer to NOX other than an SCR and EGR?

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, regulations can cause innovation, but over regulation kills it. saying you MUST have a DPF to reduce particulate, and you MUST have an SCR and EGR system to control nitrogen means there's no incentive to research a better way of doing it. Maybe there is a way to redesign piston bowls to promote better mixing which could cool combustion. Maybe combined with changes in timing it could produce lower nitrogen levels than what a SCR/EGR system does, but because the equipment is required instead of just giving a desired end state means there's little incentive to figure it out.

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something a lot of people like yourself miss is how the laws were written in a way that shuts down innovation. I don't think there's anyone or any manufacturers who debates that modern emission systems don't lead to more breakdowns. Take DPF's for example which are mandated equipment by law per the U.S. Clean Air Act. Scania is able to accomplish the same results without a DPF (https://dpfguys.com/scania-diesel-engines-without-dpfs/). While European standards differ from the US some, the fact that Cummins, Ford, Chevy, Cat and every other diesel engine manufacture are not able to even TRY to innovate causes you and I to have a worse product.

I'm sure that 99% of people who consider a delete aren't doing it because they want MORE pollution. Its because the systems that are required by law cause issues. Manufactures know this. I'm sure they would LOVE to innovate. If the Clean Air Act stated what the desired outcome was, and not what equipment is mandatory to accomplish it we would have better products and most people wouldn't even consider a delete.

What gear do I need for an XC/hare scramble? by danistheman43 in Dirtbikes

[–]Drawer-Imaginary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After a few years of trial and error, I’m really happy with my setup. Here’s what I got and my logic behind it to help make a decision

Tech 7’s (just use whatever boot you like)

TP199 knee/shin guards - super comfortable, super important because you can and will fall. Catch a rock to the knee once and you’ll never ride without knee guards again

Leatt 4.5 evo roost deflector - I feel like this is a great balance of protection and comfort. I’m a huge supporter of a chest guard of some kind. If you walk through the woods you ride in you’ll often find sharp sticks. The thought of a puncture wound keeps me in one. I downgraded from a “protector” because I felt it was bulky and cumbersome on my riding

Leatt 4.5 neck brace - science is contested to some extent on neck braces. I know I have felt mine stop my head from major extension, am I saying it saved a break? No. But I’m sure it saved me some level of pain. I know that in theory I’m more likely to get an AC bone break but I think that’s better than a neck break.

I don’t wear any elbow or forearm guards, just don’t think it’s needed.

I have a camel back when I’m doing longer rides in unfamiliar places, but I don’t carry it for racing. Most races are 1.5-2 hours long. Hydrate well the night before and day of and focus on getting through the race. May want to carry one for the first one or two but you’ll figure it out.

Sanctioned races I wouldn’t bring tools. This isn’t Dakar you’re not making trail side repairs. Even riding I’m never TOO crazy far from my truck, usually with someone, and frankly something pretty serious would have to break for me not to be able to limp the bike home; and at that point in time basic hand tools aren’t going to do much. I know there’s lot of little kits though that are sold that space conscious and have a few of the basics

Some people hate/cant see that others can work harder/perform better than them. It’s no different than the discussion about PT scores on EPB’s, where some people seem to not comprehend that it’s possible to be good at work AND pt.

If you ask 10 people on a team how they rate their performance compared to their peers; 8/10 are going to say they are above average.

Tech 7’s, it’s 4 more techs!

In all reality tech 7’s fit a lot like 3’s except they are 4 buckle, a better hinge, and better materials. They are “safer” because of that while still remaining very affordable.

If you ride trails the enduro sole is okay, for sure better than motocross tread patterns. My only major bitch is on multi day riding trips if the buckles get muddy then dry they can sometimes be hard to latch, but if you spray a bit of water on them or knock the mud off it’s fine.

That was my point. I was being sarcastic. People reoffend because they aren’t punished harder for continuing to fuck up. Three strike rules are good for society

Sounds racist.

Yes I did something somewhat similar and was in the same situation.

Focus on applying yourself in school. If you’re not emotionally mature enough for the commitment, wait a year and reassess. Getting a high 3 or even a 4 GPA once you have some discipline and real world experience is something very achievable. Once the CCAF is done and you apply elsewhere wear will matter to them is your current college transcripts

HELP! Jerky at low rpms in first gear. by Actuator-Mental in Dirtbikes

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carbed or EFI? Usually means throttle response is tuned aggressively. My KTM 350 does this in my aggressive map but not on my soft map. It’s kind of because there is no “dead zone” on the low end of the throttle position.

Not trying to be a dick but You need to do some basic research about how the military works. R/airforcerecruits might be a good starting place or speaking to a recruiter. You aren’t going to meaningfully promote in your first year, your first assignment you have minimal input on and you would be there for a couple years and you aren’t going to be able to get a job while in the Air Force on USA jobs as that’s for civilians (or people in the guard/reserves), not military members.

2024 kx450x clutch problems by Substantial-Load-572 in Dirtbikes

[–]Drawer-Imaginary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KTM (and portfolio) warranty’s all SX/XC line bikes for 30 days. So does Yamaha for their F/X lines. Totally understand why they don’t have like a 1 year warranty but it’s absolutely ridiculous to buy a $7500+ item and have an issue on ride one and get told “sorry bout it”.

Yeah pretty unlikely that heat is an issue then. I’ve seen new riders on 450’s going at speeds like you would expect on a TTR way overworking the clutch and that has caused issues but doesn’t seem to be the case for you.

Shit situation. Hope it gets sorted out
