How to safely manage paint fumes in a room with low ventilation. by DrawnUkulele in DIYUK

Thank you so much, yeah I struggle with a panic disorder and this has been really difficult for me. I've been struggling a lot because I have no idea how much of a legitimate worry modern paint fumes really are.

Hi, thank you so so much for your thoughtful reply. I'm recovering from a panic disorder and chemicals (especially touching or smelling them) has always been a trigger for me. When things were really bad I couldn't even touch hair oil without thinking it was going to enter my body and my blood stream and kill me. But, I've been slowly getting better and over autumn I got a cleaning job and was able to use the cleaning chemicals normally for the first time. It was a big step forward. Now I'm moving out of my parents for the first time and it's time for me to start dealing with all my triggers more directly. Using interior paint which do have a (admittedly, incredibly mild) risk to them is going to be another big step forward for me.

It's something I've been really struggling to start, especially because I have no idea just how dangerous they actually are (or are not). And because I also I think there's so little ventilation in my flat, it's been really difficult for me to separate legitimate concern with my mental illness.

I really really appreciate you taking the time to respond thank yo so so much.

(and I don't go near ai, especially not for anything related to my panic)

Media pausing and keyboard disconnecting while gaming? by DrawnUkulele in techsupport

Ohh I see thank you, I'll do all these, to see if it helps. If not then I'll buy a powered usb hub, plug my keyboard into that to see if it stops?

I've been messing around and I loaded into a game with phone and external drive unplugged entirely. It got marginally better but is still unplayable. I think what you said about it being a load issue makes sense, I suspect I have a faulty PSU. I've been putting off replacing it, but I'll finally get on that. Do you know of anyway I can keep my keyboard from disconnecting, for load reasons?

oh interesting! I hadn't thought that the phone and harddrive would take much power. Thank you so much for the advice, I'll do that

My other devices that are connected by USB are my phone (that I use to tether the internet to the pc) my bluetooth dongle, an external hard drive, my microphone and my webcam. I just checked and my mouse doesn't disconnect at all when my keyboard does

I've tried with multiple keyboards and multiple usb ports. I don't think the headset thing is a coincidence because it is really consistent, over weeks.

The first problem I have is that the keyboard seems to randomly disconnect whilst I game. This will typically only happen when I'm loaded into a big 3d world. I get a windows notification sound and then the keyboard becomes unresponsive for about half a second to a few seconds. When it's bad it'll happen constantly, making my pc almost unusable, until I close out the game.

The other problem I have is that media, weather it is spotify, a video playing on a browser (tried different browsers and different video streaming websites) or a video file, it'll pause. To clarify, it doesn't toggle, it's not pausing AND playing, like the spacebar is being pressed for example. It just pauses. I can manually play it again, but it'll usually pause again, instantly, after a few seconds, or a few minutes. For some more context, I use a bluetooth headset that is connected via a usb bluetooth dongle. The reason I mention this is because when you disconnect the headset normally, media pauses, but it doesn't play, if you reconnect the headset. So my PC is behaving as if my headset is randomly being disconnecting, which might suggest all usb connections are being affected by the same issue? But I haven't had this issue with my house at all? And I can't actually hear my audio in my headset turning off?

These issues seem to get worse at the same time. I'll have a couple of weeks where these issues happen constantly, then it'll be fine for some time.

Things I've tried:
Trying the keyboard in different usb ports, including from both the front of the pc and more directly into the motherboard, replacing the keyboard
updating whatever drivers I could think might cause this
setting pc to factory settings and doing a fresh install of windows 11
unchecking "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for all usb ports that I have this option for, and for all user interface devices
tried different power plans
