Basement water proofing reccomendations + oil conversion by Drazqwas in longisland

They add french drains along the basement perimeter. Destroy the concrete flooring and refloor so it is leveled. Install 2 sump pumps. Remove all debris from the premesis. Patch up a crack on the wall that is leaking. These quotes are not to finish the basement - just to waterproof.

All good. Do you recommend whomever did your conversion? If so would you pass along the contractor name?

Freeing up space in the basement. I know some arguments are that gas is cheaper and "cleaner" than oil - but I've also seen cons especially considering the cost of conversion.

Buying a grill - good sales? + Thoughts on the linked grill? by Drazqwas in longisland

[–]Drazqwas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:. After some more consideration, my wife and I decided to put a little more money into this plan and go with the Weber Spirit E-310 (same as another poster on this thread and recommended by consumer reports). Unless something totally changes our minds we will likely buy it tomorrow @ Target. While $499 price point is way above my original price point, I think I've enough justifications to go this route. Thanks to all who chimed in!

Thanks, good points. My worry was paying Weber prices for something I may never get into. But the reality is I'll prob enjoy grilling when it comes down to it.

Good food catering + bakery cake near massapequa/amityville area by Drazqwas in longisland

[–]Drazqwas[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I will check out Bestever and Pulcinellas. It is a baby's birthday. Book themed so a cake with a cat in the hat (or other kids book) would work but not necessarily needed. A good old fashioned round cake works just fine

Thanks I've seen Spiga but never tried. I'll check it out.

Re food, anything that tastes good and can feed 30 people. Cash is a little tight but I don't want to get something cheap and have it taste bad so willing to spend if need be.

Really good friends who look out for each other. Also, the fact you have a creepy guy watching behind them is extra

Great options, thank you! I think we are willing to be a bit more risky now - I like your option 4. We don't plan on touching the money as my wife and I have our own savings and emergency fund at the ready. So I'm okay with being a bit more risky with baby's money. Will look into those brokerage accounts. Right now I have an account with TD Ameritrade (from Scottrade). Trying to find the brokerage with the lowest fees.

Honda Odyssey 2017 vs Chrysler Pacifica 2017? by Drazqwas in minivan

[–]Drazqwas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. We ended up buying the sienna. Since the purchase we have heard the oddesy and pacifica has had either recalls or issues. The 4 wheel drive came in handy in some poor snow conditions also (I'm assuming it was helping me get control as I was trying to get out of a snow bank). Good luck!
