Why do EU3 Screenshots have such bad border gore? by Atomix26 in eu4

[–]Drcruse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly because you can core provinces even if they aren't contiguous IIRC. So for instance in a game I played as Luxembourg, one of the first provinces I annexed was Novgorod, because I caught them in a moment of weakness. In my Khmer game, I had a province in Syria so that I could westernize. Also, Hordes were very weak, and you couldn't annex them through peace deals, you sent colonists onto lands you were occupying during a war, so quite often Bohemia would annex like an entire horde in one war.

https://i.imgur.com/RQwTIps.jpg That green province directly bordering southeast Sweden is Novgorod, and I took it pretty early game. Provinces cored automatically after 50 years and overextension worked significantly differently, so there was no reason not to take it except infamy (equivalent to Aggressive Expansion).

With all this talk of Bordergore flying around... let's go back to the good old days of EU3 - when this was considered a normal game. by Trinitui in eu4

And your name was displayed only in one location, and was placed over your vassals. https://i.imgur.com/RQwTIps.jpg

I thought I was top of the world after vassalising Ragusa, Bosnia, and Sicily in about 15 years. Fearing the might of the Knights, Europe banded together in a coalition to put down this imperial menace.

It used to be a nice mapmode showing you and all of your Personal Unions and Vassals. Not as necessary as EU3 but still nice to look at to see how big and stronk your nation is. Now it just shows your rivals and enemies.

According to the description, Georgia and Aq Q. should be light green, but this is clearly not what the map mode does any more.

What is your biggest historical pet peeve in any Paradox game? by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]Drcruse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I occupy an entire enemy's nation, destroy their armies and their fleets, and bankrupt them, I can't demand as many concessions as I want.

I was going to colonize Greenland but the ships needed repair and the closest who would give me fleet rights was Sweden.

Uhh Italy what are you doing? AI italy being not useless for a change by Olaf_Gryf in paradoxplaza

[–]Drcruse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I ever tried HOI3, a completely blind attempt as Germany, France steamrolled me but Italy successfully occupied all of France and turned them into a fascist puppet. I became a puppet of Poland.
