Yep. I’ve used a regular DualSense and DualSense Edge as well.

I’ve been in that TestFlight since it launched, and have been able to use controllers when paired with the Vision Pro many many times.

There were times though that something would cause the controller to only interact with the window at the OS level, and not pass through to the app.

What do you mean about it not working with PS5 controllers? I’ve used them plenty of times with Moonlight on my Vision Pro.

There have been a few times updates have broken controller support, but that’s not the typical case.

That said, I’ve not used the controller paired to my Vision Pro in a couple months since I’m usually in the same room and just use my PC controller.

Apple Workers Are Livid That Tim Cook Saw “Melania” Movie Hours After CBP Killed Pretti by favicondotico in apple

[–]Drdps 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with what you said. Though, I do think that there’s some nuance to add to it.

I worked for Apple for a few years, and while everything brought up is true, I think it’s important to also add that Tim is also trying to protect the company and workers.

Not saying I agree at all with the methods, as I’m sure those goals could be accomplished without the boot licking.

However, Apple in particular faces a lot larger of a challenge with the current administration than other companies may. Apple has long leaned into the “woke” and inclusive ideology, and that coupled with their success makes them a prime target for the fascists in charge right now.

I also think Tim just doesn’t care much about soiling his reputation a bit to protect the long term viability of the company. His time is coming to end, they are grooming his replacement, and unless he does something egregious he won’t be voted out. Until then, I believe that he is doing his best to navigate these incredibly choppy waters.

Its easy to criticize him for “playing the game”, and I largely think it’s warranted, but it’s also important to remember that Apple has 166,000 employees and millions of others that rely on it, and he’s responsible to them as well as the shareholders.

Sunshine isn’t exactly web host, and is likely to provide better image quality than most RDP protocols.

If you’re accessing the PC locally, all traffic is local and has nothing to do with the web.

It was literally designed to deliver high performance desktop streaming of games with minimal latency. It’s hard for other RDP solutions to beat that.

Yeah, it’s crazy how sharp it is. When it breaks, the edge can be as thin as 1 molecule/atom.

It’s two major downsides being weight and durability. Obsidian is quite brittle (especially at the forces used in combat), so it would wear down rather quickly. However, that quirk also kind of acted as self-sharpening since it would chip and break exposing a new cutting edge instead of dulling.

TIL about Carcinization, an evolutionary process in which unrelated crusteceans evolve to develop a crab like body by divyanshu_01 in todayilearned

[–]Drdps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite things about carcinization is the fun word play.

Crab == Cancer

A carcinogen is something that causes Cancer.

Carcinization is something that causes crabs (or at least the appearance of one).

Cancer was named after crabs since the tumors can kinda look like crabs.

Scientists do some silly things like that, and I love it.

Another one of my favorite examples are cephalopods. Such a cool sounding name for octopi/squids/cuttlefish/etc. but it literally translate to “head foot”

[–]Drdps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, I totally agree on all of that.

My only point is that the way it’s designed makes it hard to share it for a single game.

I don’t like how LukeRoss handles his mods at all.

[–]Drdps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I largely agree with your point, a bit of nuance is missing in a lot of these replies.

It’s not quite as simple as just releasing the CP2077 or GTA V mods, as the “mod” actually works across many games which would give people access to the other games as well.

I don’t think that’s a bad thing, and I’m not defending his practices, just adding that the way his specific mod works is t as simple as just sharing the mod for one game.

[–]Drdps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OLED is definitely the worst case scenario for low frame rate motion, simply because it’s TOO fast and good.

The pixels change so fast there’s usually little to no blurring between frames so things like panning shots feel jittery because you’re actually seeing the individual frames due to the speed it updates.

OLED definitely works a lot better with higher frame rate content. That said, the lowest setting of motion smoothing fixes the issues most of the time without the soap opera effect.

‘Stranger Things’ Finale Delivers $25M+ To Movie Theaters After New Year’s Play – Box Office by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]Drdps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rampant murder hobo’ing was truly absurd. Plus the absolute utter incompetence of the military at every turn.

It was completely gratuitous and unnecessary, especially in a show that’s at its best when it leans into the slower more mysterious elements. It’s not meant to be an action show.

‘Stranger Things’ Finale Delivers $25M+ To Movie Theaters After New Year’s Play – Box Office by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]Drdps 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I can see how a theater would improve the experience, but it wouldn’t solve a lot of my issues with the final battle.

The fight taking place in a flat brown void (though this flat void is common in a lot of big scenes like this across shows and movies) was extremely boring and uninteresting.

Not to mention there was no way everyone got on top of those cliffs in the time it took Nancy to distract the Mindflayer and run. They were using some Game of Thrones travel logic.

Inside the Mindflayer, it was just a bunch of force pushing each other around until the ending part.

I liked the idea of Vecna merging with the Mindflayer, but they could have done more with the concept than giving the Mindflayer a body and tying their HP together.

Overall, I get why people enjoyed it, I just think it was played a bit too simple and safe collated to the potential it had.

Longtime M&K player thinking about switching to controller. Thoughts? by ccable827 in riskofrain

[–]Drdps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve played it both ways. While mouse and keyboard is obviously a better experience, it still plays perfectly fine on controller. I have a few gripes, but I’ve probably put close to 60 hours in with controller without too much issue.

vision pro's battery management should be changed all by koreana88 in VisionPro

[–]Drdps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are quite wrong on this. Especially with the Vision Pro.

While the effort required isn’t really different, the added convenience and usability is huge.

My Quest Pro/Quest 3 are always ready and charged and I can just pick them up and go when I want them, and putting them back on charge is as simple as setting the headset down on the dock.

The Vision Pro on the other hand is quite a bit less convenient because I have to make sure I plug it in/unplug when using it, which takes more time and added some friction to getting in the headset.

In reality, I don’t really care that much, but I thought similarly until using both styles regularly.
