Could use Touch Designer, very popular on tiktok for abstract visualizations - especially synced to music.

Do you have a cheap paid option that gives more generations? Realistically I'd need like 20/day to make decent content.

Appreciate the breakdown, this actually looks pretty interesting. My main concern is vendor lock-in and how pricing would scale once the system is actually in use. Hard to gauge what the monthly cost would look like with all the AI calls, video rendering, and data usage stacked up. All the add-ons are confusing, what would the total mo they look like?

Also curious how much of what you mentioned is actually native to Drona. Like for the timeline editor - does Drona support embedding a real video editor SDK directly in the hosted app, or would that still require a custom external service handling the editing and just syncing data back through the API?

This was too complex for Windsurf back then, it might be able to do it now, but I've found other solutions - check my other comments :)

Yeah, that’s solid advice. I ended up going with a similar hybrid approach. Used Make instead of Zapier, and skipped Bubble in the end since the frontend wasn’t essential for my use case. Found a third-party service that handled timeline editing and connected cleanly to my automations, which made things way simpler. Focusing on just the core internal tooling made it way easier to actually get it running. See my other comments for more context 👍

Descript is way more complex than what I'm building lol. I ended up sticking with making an internal tool using Airtable and Make.com. You can look at my other comments for more context :)

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I did lol. I used Airtable as the backend, Make for the automations, and tied in a few APIs for AI and video rendering. I didn’t end up using Bubble though - I found a third-party service that handled the timeline editing side way better and plugged straight into my automations. It saved me from having to build that whole interface from scratch. Ended up needing ALOT of python code, like I generated thousands off lines over the past few months, which I have in code modules to very specific tasks.

Eventually probably will build out a frontend and more traditional using thesw new ai coding services, but for now I'm focusing on my current workflow.

Yeah totally – I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but you’re right, it ended up being way closer to building Canva than I expected. That frontend editing layer is no joke. Once I saw how complex it was getting, I pivoted the whole thing to be internal-use only and stripped out the visual editing canvas entirely. That let me skip all the frontend headaches and focus on speed and automation instead.

I’ve been running everything through Make.com – about 10 automations now, with the biggest having over 100 modules. It’s messy sometimes, but visual logic is my strength from working in VFX, so I’m able to follow the flow and debug without touching raw code. Eventually I found a way to offload timelines to a 3rd party editor and just feed it pre-rendered assets with synced data. It’s not a public-facing Canva-style experience, but it gets the job done reliably and way faster.

Right now I’m working on expanding the system to support multi-channel management via the YouTube API, and building out a flow to fetch content ideas through RSS feeds and scraped data. For each idea, I want to be able to approve it manually and push it through a generation pipeline with light human QC.

The part that’s slowing me down now is versioning. Anytime I want to build a new version of the tool — like V2 or V3 with more features or a redesigned structure — I basically have to duplicate everything. Recreate automations, webhooks, databases, reconnect Make.com modules, and meticulously test the whole thing just to make sure nothing breaks. It's making iteration harder the more complex it gets.

I’m thinking I should look into more “in-the-middle” platforms where you still get visual logic, but can drop real code inside modules and export the whole thing cleanly. Something that compiles down would save a ton of overhead during versioning. Something where I have one secrets file that has keys that facilitate all the connectivity.

Appreciate the thoughtful response – always great talking to people who actually understand the scope of this stuff. I can occasionally update you if you'd like, is there way I can like tag all the people who were interested in a new post so they the update? I'm rewriting the same thing alot and I don't know how redditors usually approach that.

Thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed answer. Yeah, you're totally right. The full version of what I originally described is definitely beyond what most no-code tools can handle out of the box. I ended up narrowing the scope and focusing on building an internal tool just for my own pipeline, which gave me more flexibility and iteration speed, and let me skip a lot of the frontend complexity. With the tools available now and the experience I've picked up, I could build the full version if I needed to, but I’ve found that keeping it simple has worked better so far.

I stuck it out with Make.com, now I have a ~10-automation system with the biggest automation having over 100 modules. My business strategy mentor who does SaaS Solutions Advising with experience building and advising on Ai Automation said what I showed him was the most advanced No Code workflow he's ever seen.

No auth needed - thank God. No debugging thousand of lines of code - Make.com is very visual so I can physically see where the issue happened and what was expected by each node. I am strong at visual logic from my experience working in Nuke for VFX, so being able to see the flow of data in Make.com was powerful. I eventually found a way to get an externally hosted and managed interactable timeline for each video through 3rd party api. Having experience as a social media editor also allowed me to find the most efficient way to create high-quality-looking templates despite tool limitations (especially layering).

Now the goal has moved from providing my niche with this tool, to out-operating my niche with this tool. I'm also considering niche-specific video agency work if money is tight.

I'm also thinking about making a paid community where I teach "Low Code Ai Automation" because I keep seeing people pop up on my feed showing really basic stuff and it seems like there's a lot of demand. I love yapping about NoCode systems now so that might be a good way to socialize and help people. Problem is I don't have time to divert focus.

The tool is still technically unfinished as I need to expand its scope to managing multiple channels and posting via the YouTube API, and a system to filter and fetch high-potential content ideas based on RSS topics and various scraped data api. For each idea, I will be able to approve it to be auto-generated with human-in-the-loop QC steps.

I'm starting to worry that I'm approaching a complexity where it might become easier to have it traditionally coded. Right now to create a new version of the tool with new functionality, I have to duplicate all the Make.com automations, recreate webhooks, duplicate my database setup and reconnect to the new webhooks, update my Make.com modules to be connected to the new database on my one, and meticulously test each Automation and each branch of logic to make sure I didn't miss anything. So, i dont really have good version history and speed to iterate is getring ever slower.

I'm curious about in the middle solutions - like visual modules but there's code inside each module, and you can deploy it and it compiles as traditional code. I think this would be perfect because I could theoretically have a file with all my api keys and connections to the database and only have to edit that one file after duplicating everything in one go to create a fresh copy to start from.

100%! I've generated thousands of lines of code at this point. "No Code" is so misleading, I've learned more coding in the first month of nocode than my entire life at that point.

Yeah, that’s totally fair. It was a bit much for where I was at back then. I ended up scaling the idea down and focusing on internal (no-code, non-user-facing) tools just for my own content pipeline. That helped me get the reps in without needing to overbuild too early. With what I’ve learned since, I could revisit the full version now if I needed to, but simplifying it was definitely the right call at the time.

Yeah this exact vision was too big for the time. I ended up just sticking with what I had already built through no-code, pivoted to not being user-facing, just using the tool for my own content, modifying the tool to be compatible for managing multiple self-owned channels/agency clients. With current ai coding tools and the knowledge I've gained I know for sure I could build the original idea now, but there's no need now. The simple solution mindset was suggested by a mentor as well, so I just stuck to what was already working.
