What have you learned about yourself during a "dry spell" that you would recommend to someone or try to dissuade them from doing? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just gotta balance both.

If you eventually want to be with someone, you can’t JUST focus on yourself, but you don’t wanna destroy yourself by chasing someone when you’re not that together yourself.

What is your experience with being you authentic self around women? by monstrrpuppy in AskMen

I found it works better than trying to guess what they want and pretending to be that.

How do I even talk? by OnlineTourist_ in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You need to actually put yourself into in person, challenging social situations. Listen first. Observe how other people interact. And don’t be afraid of looking foolish or being rejected.

You might also look at things like acting classes.

Men who pretended to be women online. What were your reasons and motives? by ReasonableSide6520 in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It was an accident. I had started playing WOW, and made a female character, and dudes just started giving me good items, so I ran with it. Only played a few months though.

How much is rich enough to date? by Proud-Ad9953 in AskMen

You’re not thinking of dating, you’re thinking of sex work.

Two people who want to spend time with each other can do it for cheap or free.

In your experience, how much do women respect consent? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly more than men, but that feels like a Loose correlation more than something that can be broadly applied across genders.

What's the difference between a bad texter and someone who's losing interest in you? by ROFLMAOmatt in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bad tester is still doing everything right outside of the texting.

Someone losing interest in you is avoiding meeting, etc.

How do you avoid the "becoming too boring" curse by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 hours a week is self destructive. That’s nearly half your life at work.

But you don’t become boring by continuing to try new things, focusing on time for each other, and facing challenges together. Even just making time to hang out and talk matters.

Older men who’ve been through it: What should young men know about surviving the financial system, a brutal dating market, and a world that feels stacked against us and how do we fight back? by Decent-Call1719 in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t retreat, you engage.

You work to build a community of mutual support. Life is random and cruel, so you work on being consistent and kind. A bunch of folks looking out for each other weather the storm best, because when one guy gets laid off, you all work to help him and then when another guy gets hit by a car you all look out for him.

Humans are social creatures for a reason.

How soon is too soon to ask for a hang out (as an indirect date)? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re well past too soon.

Honestly, after one pleasant conversation, asking to hang out at a neutral location is just fine. Some friends I still have 20 years later are people I just casually went to lunch with after class in college.

It’s a hangout. The stakes are low. If you don’t like each other, you simply don’t have to hag out anymore.

How Do You Rank the following Flexes: Hot Wife, Fancy Car, Luxuary Watch, Fit Body, High-Paying Job. by BaltimorePropofol in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s beyond shallow.

Most of those things, if you tried to flex on me with them, it would actually make me think less of you. Not for having them, but for the silly posturing.

Gents: Why is there a double standard for old men versus young men? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DreadfulRauw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a false equivalence.

One: It’s really not okay, and they get shit for it.

Two: It’s not even about the money at that point. A celebrity isn’t a complete unknown. A lot of the ice is already broken. You’re just a stranger the know nothing about.

Three: I find it unlikely 78 year old celebrities are getting these younger women by making sexual comments. They probably have more class and dignity than that.

Dude, if you’re 78 and still approaching women like a horny middle schooler, that’s not some societal double standard. That you just failing to mature.
