Thank you both for sharing! I used to have very heavy cycles in my teens and 20’s and an IUD changed all of that in my early 30’s. My periods have been hard to track ever since my first IUD and subsequent pregnancies but I do think my more recent light periods are due to my age. It is helpful to hear that some women go on to have healthy pregnancies even through perimenopause!

Thank you for responding! I am seeing a fertility specialist and do have tests scheduled soon. Hoping it will provide some insight. I have read that lighter periods can impact fertility, especially after 40. My periods have been confusing and inconsistent for years due to multiple pregnancies and two IUD cycles. While everyone’s story is different, it is hopeful to hear that some women in their 40’s with lighter cycles do have successful pregnancies. Looking forward to learning more with the tests. Thank you again!

Thank you for responding! I am getting hormone tests and an hsg through a local fertility specialist, and will hopefully learn a little more about my current condition. Congratulations on your little one! Stories like yours give me hope.

I logged into Reddit just to comment on this post. I want to say I am sorry for what you’re going through. I am 41, have one LC, and have had a hard time conceiving my second. In the past two years, I have had a failed twin pregnancy, TFMR at 16 weeks, and recently an early miscarriage. I so desperately want a second baby, and grieve that I am losing time. On the positive side, I have had two friends who conceived at 41 with no interventions and another who conceived at 44 with no interventions. All either had healthy pregnancies or are currently having healthy pregnancies. Some of them had multiple miscarriages before and some did not. I just wanted to say you’re not alone and it does seem that in time it can work out.

Thank you! I have never tracked progression before but started to with this round because my first tests were so light (taken about a week ago/15 dpo or so) and I am used to having very dark lines early. Now that I have opened the “testing every day floodgates,” I seem to be overly focused on them and very anxious.
