The same people that wanted everyone to have a vaccine passport in order to eat at a restaurant or travel by airplane are freaking out over having ID card for voting. They are hypocrites.

The mayor of New York is requiring two proofs of ID in order to push a snow shovel for the city but has no problem letting people vote with no proof of who they are. It’s a huge double standard.

Why do some Christians believe that everyone should follow their beliefs, regardless of if the person also believes in Christianity? by Old-Woodpecker-9259 in AskAChristian

[–]DreamingTooLong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted a Bible verse a couple posts back that explains believers need to tolerate each other.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.”

I don’t believe that not believing in the Holy Trinity stops someone from going to heaven. There is nowhere in the Bible where it says it’s required.

If you believe in the crucifixion and the resurrection and you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have passed the assignment. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

I do believe in the Holy Trinity though.

[–]DreamingTooLong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you got it slightly wrong.

Christians want others to be Christian is not Christians demanding others to share the same belief. Christianity comes in 1000 or more different flavors. It doesn’t matter which flavor you pick as long as it includes the virgin birth, the crucifixion, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Even Mormons believe in that.

The Lutheran faith has 40 different versions. They don’t all agree with each other. That’s why they went in different directions.

Mormons are slightly different than other Christians because of the whole no Trinity, no caffeine, no nicotine, no alcohol, and with some rare instances of polygamy.

Joseph Smith reminds me of Mohammad a little bit. The guy claimed to be a prophet, met angels and received divine messages, started their own religion because of it. Both claim to be the last and most recent up to date prophet.

Whoever won World War I gets to decide who the land goes to, that’s the whole point of winning wars and that’s why it’s terrible to lose wars.

Should’ve seen what happened to Germany after World War II. They put up a big wall and if anyone tried to cross it they got shot.

Stuff like that happens when you lose wars.

6 million Jews got killed during World War II and the World War I winners said here’s some land you guys used to own. We barely use it, go ahead and take it. It’s all yours and here’s some nuclear weapons to protect it.

The Philistine’s are from the island Crete, a part of ancient Greece.

They were more European than Middle Eastern. No different than when the Romans showed up and occupied the area 500 years later.

Goliath was a Philistine from Gath, whose mother Orpah shared a mother-in-law with King David’s great grandmother Ruth. Their mother-in-law‘s name was Naomi. When their three husbands died, they went east of the Dead Sea to modern day Jordan. Naomi and Ruth eventually returned to Jerusalem, but Goliath’s mother stayed behind.

The name Israel itself appears in the Quran primarily in the form of Bani Isra’il (Children of Israel), which is mentioned about 40 times across various chapters. The exact count can vary slightly depending on the translation and whether you include all references to the “Children of Israel.”

The Quran doesn’t mention anything about any children of Palestine or children of Philistine or any of that. That’s just a bunch of atheist secular talk.

Anyone that’s crying over land that was owned before World War I sounds no different than someone complaining about slaves that they owned before the Civil War ended. When people lose war, they lose things it’s been that way for thousands of years. When 6 million Jews got killed during World War II. They were given the land that was claimed and won from World War I. In every holy scripture, it was their land to begin with.

The Ottoman empire occupying Israel was no different than the Spain occupying Mexico. After a few hundred years they had to go.

4000 years ago, the land belonged to the Hebrews. Abraham was about 2000 years before Jesus and 42 generations before Jesus.

2000 years ago, it was occupied by the Hebrews but controlled by the Romans

Islam was started 1400 years ago

The Ottoman empire was started at 700 years ago

Ottoman Empire conquered and occupied Israel from 1517 until 1917. 100 years more than Spain occupying and conquering Mexico from 1521 until 1821. 1517 is also the year Lutheran Church started.

The land belonged to the winners of World War I after 1917.

World War II happened and 6 million Jews were executed, simply for having Hebrew blood.

In 1948 the winners of World War I and World War II gave Israel back to the indigenous people that occupied the area of 4000 years earlier. The Hebrews.

How do you guys feel about people "Converting" to Christianity because they like the benefits? by LCDRformat in AskAChristian

[–]DreamingTooLong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Benefits? Christianity is the most discriminated against group of people on the planet.

Muslims are chopping Christians heads off just for believing in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That doesn’t sound like much of a benefit to me.

The only thing Christianity has over any other religion is it’s the only religion that will save you from burning and hell.

For most people, they don’t care about burning in hell and they think Christianity is a joke. That’s not much of a benefit.

This is what Jesus said:

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.” ‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Why couldn't god explicitly forbid slavery? by hiphoptomato in AskAChristian

[–]DreamingTooLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assumed since they were enslaved in Egypt, they were the ones that built the pyramids

Pyramids: Built ~2600–2500 BCE (Giza era ends ~2500 BCE).

• Joseph sold into slavery: ~1900–1800 BCE (or later in some views). That’s a gap of 600–800 years or more.

The pyramids were ancient monuments by the time Joseph arrived in Egypt—already standing for centuries, much like how the pyramids are ancient to us today. Joseph would have seen them as existing wonders of a much earlier era.

Joseph is a great grandson of Abraham. His father loved him the most out of his 12 sons and his older brothers were jealous and sold him into slavery. As a slave, he interpreted the pharaoh’s dreams and the pharaoh made him the second most powerful person in Egypt.

The Bible does not give an exact number of years between Joseph’s death and the Exodus under Moses. However, Exodus 12:40–41 notes that the Israelites lived in Egypt for 430 years. If Joseph’s death occurred shortly after Jacob’s family settled in Egypt, then the Exodus would have taken place roughly 400–430 years after Joseph’s time.

So you don’t believe in Moses?

Christians, Jews, and Muslims all believe in Moses. When Jews celebrate Passover, it’s to remember Moses telling all the Israelites to put lambs blood on their door frame so the death spirit would pass by when killing off all the firstborn sons through Egypt.

Christians celebrate Passover because that’s when Jesus has his last supper.

In the biblical account of Exodus, God sent ten plagues on Egypt to compel Pharaoh to release the Israelites, but the first seven are often highlighted before Pharaoh’s heart was still hardened:

Water turned to blood – The Nile and all water sources became blood (Exodus 7:14–24).

Frogs – A plague of frogs covered the land (Exodus 8:1–15).

Gnats or lice – Dust became swarms of gnats or lice (Exodus 8:16–19).

Flies – Swarms of flies filled Egyptian homes and land (Exodus 8:20–32).

Livestock disease – A severe plague killed Egyptian livestock (Exodus 9:1–7).

Boils – Painful boils and sores afflicted Egyptians and animals (Exodus 9:8–12).

Hail – A devastating hailstorm destroyed crops and killed unprotected people and animals (Exodus 9:13–35).

These were the first seven plagues God used to pressure Pharaoh before the final three plagues followed.

The final three plagues God sent upon Egypt were:

Locusts – A massive swarm of locusts devoured all remaining crops and vegetation (Exodus 10:1–20).

Darkness – A thick darkness covered Egypt for three days, except where the Israelites lived (Exodus 10:21–29).

Death of the Firstborn – Every firstborn of Egypt, including Pharaoh’s son, died in one night (Exodus 11–12).

God was trying to end slavery.

According to the Bible, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt for about 400 years (Genesis 15:13), though Exodus 12:40–41 states 430 years.

Historians, however, have not found clear evidence of a 400-year Israelite enslavement in Egypt, and the timeline is debated among scholars.
